Okay people! send me your opinions. Dark or light? If I go with the dark it may be dark purple rather than black.

Tough choice, but I like the lighter one.

gollytwo 09-16-2012 11:41 AM

they stand out better on the black
look lovely on both though

tutt 09-16-2012 11:45 AM

Dark makes the colors really pop!! My favorite.

lauriejo 09-16-2012 11:48 AM

Ooh this is a tough question, I would like both. In my opinion, the dark background give it a more modern feel. The light background makes me think of vintage quilts. I guess you will just have to make two!

joyce888 09-16-2012 11:52 AM

I almost always go with the dark when the blocks are bright but I think the light really works the best.

alfosa421 09-16-2012 12:04 PM

I like the dark It makes the colors pop more

DebraK 09-16-2012 12:16 PM

I would usually say dark, but for some reason, I am attracted to the light. Either will be nice.

mcdor 09-16-2012 12:28 PM

I prefer the light color, made me smile.

I think the light looks better but the dark black or purple would not be bad. I just liked the softer look.

sewgarden 09-16-2012 12:36 PM

they stand out more on the dark but I'm not sure that's good. I really like the feel of them on the light.

Taughtby Grandma 09-16-2012 12:44 PM

The dark background really makes them pop. The light background looks restfult. I like them both.

QuiltnNan 09-16-2012 12:47 PM

my vote goes for the dark

Tartan 09-16-2012 12:49 PM

I was liking the black until I scrolled down and saw the blue. LOVE the blue!

I would say light is the right choice this time.

yep!!! one of each :)

raynhamquilter 09-16-2012 01:52 PM

I prefer the light with the fabrics you show. But the dark looks good, too. Big help I am.

HilaryK8 09-16-2012 02:09 PM

I'm going to go against most people here. I WAY prefer the light background fabric! That's such a beautiful quilt-in-progress. Looking forward to hearing your choice.

fatquarters 09-16-2012 03:02 PM

I usually go for dark, but this time I'm loving your blue

fred singer 09-16-2012 03:53 PM

light blue

lynnie 09-16-2012 04:22 PM

Dark, stands out better

kele 09-16-2012 04:28 PM

They are both very pretty! Normally I would say dark, but in this case I really like the light.

Granna of 5 09-16-2012 04:33 PM

I like the light best, it seemed my mood changed when I scrolled down from the dark to light. It is soothing.

javin22 09-16-2012 04:34 PM

I like the light one.

DeeBooper 09-16-2012 05:05 PM

Has to be something dark! Your fans will pop out!

QM 09-16-2012 05:16 PM

Is every little bit of dust or cat hair going to be a problem? The black pops more but will show any bit of lint or whatever. The blue looks cosier. IMHO, the blue works better with the fabrics of your fans/plates.

Diane007 09-16-2012 06:13 PM

l vote dark

Princess Bella's Mom 09-16-2012 06:50 PM

The dark is much more dramatic. I like drama in quilts, but not in life.

Quilter Jane 09-16-2012 06:52 PM

I too love the black - very striking.

nls 09-16-2012 06:53 PM

I like the dark!

candicane 09-16-2012 07:07 PM

yep one of each. but light is my fav

Nantie 09-17-2012 03:31 AM

no help here, i think they both look nice and each gives the quilt a different look....hard choice...make 2 as suggested..lol

zazulka 09-17-2012 03:38 AM

I'm partial to black backgrounds, however, I'm thinking something like mint green. What do you think? Love the blocks (not really blocks). I have so many scraps, I'll have to do something like that. Happy quilting.

Gilly 09-17-2012 03:59 AM

I love the light !!!!!

The Dark looks like a winter quilt, where the lt blue reminds me of summer & fluffy clouds. I agree....gotta do 2 of them. I may steal your idea. That looks like a great quilt! OMG... Another reason to go shopping. Is that a Dresden plate, without the points, pattern?

katsewnsew 09-17-2012 04:07 AM

They both look good, however I think the light goes better.

mkinaz 09-17-2012 04:20 AM

I usually go for the black, but if you want a really antique/old fashioned look, try a very light tone on tone cream/white background with a very tiny print - and as usual, the final choice is what floats YOUR boat.
