UFO Complete!!

3 Attachment(s)
This year our guild had a UFO challenge. This is the first quilt that I started five years ago but as it grew, (I have no pattern so was shooting from the hip so to speak) i was unsure of how I wanted to finish it. I got going on it in February and had thought of doing ruler work but decided on a free motion leaf and berry. IF I waited for time to do ruler work - it probably would take me another 5 years. Here is the completed quilt and it is now on my bed!! I am so happy.

The first is the whole quilt

Thank you . I struggled with the bottom corners - mathematically what I wanted did not work out, so in playing around I came up with this - after doing it - I really liked it!!

You've done a beautiful piecing and quilting job on this. Is the main block a design you created or does it have a name I could search out? Thanks for sharing it with us.

tron80 05-28-2014 12:10 AM

Thank you - it was something I created - but I am sure that I am not the first to do this so it may have a name. I would be happy to pdf either the foundation of the rotary cutting directions for you as it was my first project in EQ6 and easy to do. Or, you could just draw it out on graph paper as well. It was a 9" square with one long diagonal from corner to corner, a shorter one at the 4.5 ( the half way point) and a smaller one at 6.75 (the 3/4's mark). Does this make any sense? Let me know if you want the pdfs.

gabeway 05-28-2014 04:39 AM

Beautifully done!

mtkoldra 05-28-2014 04:50 AM

love everything about this quilt, perfect in every way, congratulations!
maybe someone will come out with a name for this pattern or it already has it?

bisseau 05-28-2014 05:46 AM

Love the colors...very nice

eparys 05-28-2014 06:15 AM

Thank you - lol - no it does not have an official name mtkoldra. I had thought about calling it Geese All Around!! They took me forever to do, square up and assemble :p

jeanharville 05-28-2014 06:08 PM

Betty, thank you for answering my question. I hate to be so dense, but I think I need to see a PDF of you diagram if you don't mind. Thanks.

Not a problem - here is a quick pic of the block in EQ with the rulers shown.
