Hooray for you for wanting to add your own touch. I, too, am a bit of a maverick (one of my bosses told me that). But like others said, if we don't add our own touches, all the quilts would look the same!!!

Those are fabulous - can't wait to see your finished quilt to see how you put them together!

What a nice combination of stars and log cabins! But feeling pressure to finish UFO's that we've become jaded on is not necessary, and every time you look at this you probably remember that discouraging teacher. This is a hobby and should be fun, and if your heart isn't in it, you may be missing something that would be more of a joy to you. To avoid guilt for having bought all that fabric, how about making just a couple more so you can create a square of 3 by 3 blocks, and then finish them off much faster by using the remaining fabric in a large log cabin design around the center square, with or without sashing between the blocks? The blocks that were so much work would be set off nicely. Or you could use the extra fabric for something else entirely and join the doll quilt swap that's just starting. 4 blocks like this would make a great doll quilt, and if you made just one more you could make a second one to keep or give to a child.
