Well. .. your construction is great. I like the pattern....
I agree with you...not sure I could have finished it....

heather1949 02-20-2014 06:46 PM

Finishing something always mmakes one feel better, and yours is stunning.
I love it and great colours as well.

brandeesmom 02-20-2014 10:03 PM

Yep it's ugly and I don't think you should send it to your niece......you should send it right to me because I love it! Seriously it looks great and I think your niece is going to really love it! Nice job.

Trippgal 02-20-2014 10:11 PM

It reminds me a a neat modern spin (pattern)on the arts and crafts period colors. It isnt commom for me to dont like these colors or style. But this one drew me in and now I want to make one. Nice work on it.

#1piecemaker 02-20-2014 10:15 PM

Not ugly at all!! I like it!

twinkie 02-21-2014 04:20 AM

It is a very different design but you did a great job. The 3/4 circles remind me of pac man. I think she will love it.

neece 02-21-2014 04:24 AM

I love it especially the fabrics:D

piepatch 02-21-2014 04:47 AM

This is a very unique and unusual style quilt, and some would say "art" quilt, but certainly NOT an ugly quilt! I don't see pac man at all, but rather see the fabric and design as outside the box, and rather eclectic and artsy. I like it!

bobbiesboutique 02-21-2014 04:59 AM

I love the pattern the colors just dont do it justice

I agree! What is the name of the pattern and where could I buy it? Someone on here said it looks almost Oriental and I can see that too. Actually I have some Oriental fabric that I had no idea what to make with it... and if this pattern is available I would love to make one using that fabric. I can also envision this made using vintage, scrappy fabrics. I don't think its ugly, I love it! Will greatly appreciate any info you can share.

Like it and happy for you to have the content feeling of having it finished.

quilterpurpledog 02-21-2014 05:43 AM

The pattern is very interesting and the project well done. You are making someone whose taste is different from yours happy. Think how you would feel if you made her a quilt that was your taste and it just didn't fit her decor-it would hide in the closet and you would feel bad. This way you got to make her a treasure and it makes her surrounding to her taste. I asked my DIL to choose fabric for a quilt-she did and loves it-but it is not my taste but is beautiful in their home.

youngduncan 02-21-2014 06:22 AM

Where is the "ugly"? It may not be your style or fabric choice, but your finished product is a work of art. It is truly original, and you should be bursting with pride that you created it by yourself and that someone dear to you will enjoy it for a long, long time.

grammysharon 02-21-2014 06:24 AM

The pattern is by Lawry Thorn(Stitchin Post Publications) called "Contempo."

Does anyone know what name brand the print fabrics are??

2manyhobbies 02-21-2014 07:15 AM

There is no such thing as an ugly quilt when it is made with love to keep someone warm!

quiltmom04 02-21-2014 07:39 AM

The pattern is cool, and I think you did a great job. My only observation is that those lovely fabrics seems to all get smooshed together, and you can't appreciate how pretty they are. Perhaps it doesn't look so one dimensional in person.

DJ 02-21-2014 08:20 AM

What I really think is that it's not really my style either, but I love the pattern. Congrats for finishing something you really didn't have your heart into. I had to do one recently for a friend. I didn't really care for the fabrics she picked or how she wanted it pieced together. Nice work!

Sewbeeit2 02-21-2014 08:51 AM

Give it a great washing and the comfy look will be great .Then the cozy quilt will be your niece's favorite....
Great fabric.....

roserips 02-21-2014 09:21 AM

You are being way to hard on your self it is beautiful love the pattern and and the oriental fabrics. May be not your taste or style but she will really appreciate it.

Carol34446 02-21-2014 10:44 AM

Not what I would choose, but your Neice will love it and be so happy you finished it for her.

Thank you Grannysharon for the pattern info, and for such a fast response. I found it several places on the internet but purchased it from Quilt in a Day because there was no tax and they had the cheapest shipping! Now I can't wait to get it! Like a kid at Christmas! lol Don't you just love getting new patterns and fabrics! Thanks again.

I recognize the fabrics on the fans - its from a Kate Spain collection from Moda called "Serenade" - its from a few years ago - don't know if its still available.

MargeD 02-21-2014 11:06 AM

I rather like it, a bit unusual, but that's what makes it special, especially your niece.

callen 02-21-2014 11:52 AM

Definitely not my colour choices or pattern but I think you have done an awesome job with it. Don't get me wrong, it is NOT ugly, just different. Aren't you glad you got it finished & out of the way. As they say, "out of sight, out of mind" !!!

sewbizgirl 02-21-2014 01:34 PM

I think it's great and interesting! I love the Kate Spain fabrics!

mjhaess 02-21-2014 04:41 PM

Nothing ugly about that...

auntdeb 02-21-2014 05:13 PM

I think the quilt has an oriental look to it. It's very pretty. I know we don't all like the same things but this is not an ugly quilt. Kudos for finishing.

Merivale 02-21-2014 06:15 PM

Not so ugly at all. When a quilt does not do IT for me, I at least hope that I have learned a knew techniquie. Looks like Pac Man which is fun. Be pleased you finished that is always a good feeling.

mom-6 02-21-2014 07:35 PM

Very interesting quilt! Kudos to you for finally completing it.
And no, I don't think it's ugly either.

solstice3 02-22-2014 05:57 AM

I understand where you are coming from BUT the finished project is stunning!

Quilt Lover Grandma 02-22-2014 08:13 AM
