Ugly quilt

2 Attachment(s)
This is the quilt I have been working on for 3 years off and on. This is not my style quilt nor is the fabric what I would choose!! My niece picked out the pattern and fabric when I visited Texas, Sept. 2010. My quilting buddies got so tired of me complaining about it that they said, get it out and finish it!!!! That is what I did, tell me really what you think of it!!!

mawluv 02-19-2014 11:47 AM

I LOVE it!!! It looks both modern and vintage!! Very kool!!!!

n2scraplvr 02-19-2014 11:51 AM

You did a nice job! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and each quilt has its beauty and someone will absolutely love it!! It's definitely one-of-a-kind! Great job!

nygal 02-19-2014 11:55 AM

I love the fabrics!!! I don't think it is ugly in the least!!! I am just not trying to be nice either. I think it looks great!! In fact, can you tell me what brand of fabric they are? All from one line?

Tartan 02-19-2014 12:04 PM

Your niece will love it! It looks kind of like the Pac Man video game, cute!

I agree! There is no such thing as an ugly quilt! Some are maybe "utility" quilts- used under the pretty ones for warmth. You did great!

Susy 02-19-2014 12:42 PM

I don't think it is ugly at all! However, I do understand how hard it is to work on something where the colours or pattern aren't your favourites! Yay for you for finishing it, your niece will love it!

retired2pa 02-19-2014 12:45 PM

Very nice. I'm sure your niece will love it. Isn't it great when you finish something that isn't to your own taste?

toverly 02-19-2014 12:45 PM

I understand what it's like to not be inspired by a quilt. Congrats for finishing!

erstan947 02-19-2014 01:17 PM

My hat's off to you...finished is such a good feeling. I'm sure it will be love. Now on to something you really love♥

justflyingin 02-19-2014 01:24 PM

They kind of look like Pac man characters! Your quilting looks fantastic! I'm sure she will love it and aren't you glad it's done?

QuiltnNan 02-19-2014 01:43 PM

it's very nicely done.

Dreaming 02-19-2014 01:59 PM

I really like the quilt, not the colors I would of chosen, but love the quilt it self.

Shelbie 02-19-2014 02:15 PM

You are a great aunt for finishing it. I know how hard it is to work on something you just don't like. I wouldn't have picked this fabric or pattern but your niece did and I'm sure she will be thrilled that her auntie loves her enough to make her a quilt.

Diannia 02-19-2014 02:27 PM

I think you did a great job with what you were given to work with (I agree with you the fabrics and pattern wouldn't have been my choice...at least not together). I'm sure your niece will love it!

debcavan 02-19-2014 03:08 PM

Ohhhhhhhhhhh, great modern quilt.

Crqltr 02-19-2014 03:10 PM

When I first looked at it I thought"wow..she's right" but looking at it longer I do like it, I like the fabric, it seems to fit the quilt. And your curves, wish I could master that!

tessagin 02-19-2014 03:17 PM

I think it's unique not ugly. Looking at the close up of the bottom photo sets the design for the rest of the quilt. Very Cool !!!

Grandma Bonnie 02-19-2014 03:31 PM

It turned out very nice ~ congrats on finishing something your heart wasn't in! You did a great job and your niece will love it, I'm sure.

blimey 02-19-2014 03:54 PM

I like it a lot. Looks oriental, not pac man, and I love oriental.

alfosa421 02-19-2014 03:56 PM

I kinda like it. Well done for persevering(sticking it out)

LindaMRB 02-19-2014 05:01 PM

I agree that it looks modern and vintage at the same time. Not sure how I feel about the contrast, but I have a feeling it will look nice on the bed. To each her own! (I actually like the fabrics in the circles a lot…)

red-warrior 02-19-2014 05:09 PM

I think it looks like a modern quilt and you did a great job. I agree it is hard to work on a quilt that someone else
picked out and that you do not love. Pat yourself on the back for persevering!

joyce888 02-19-2014 05:13 PM

Very nice, kinda has a retro look.

libby2595 02-19-2014 05:57 PM

it's not my style, but i can see its beauty.

congrats to you for finishing something you didn't love. i know that was not easy.

GrammaNan 02-19-2014 06:00 PM

It's very unique and looks like a difficult project. It only matters that the recipient likes and I don't see why they wouldn't love it. Congratulations for finishing it.

luvTooQuilt 02-19-2014 06:06 PM

I love the pattern!!!!!!

ChrisDee 02-19-2014 06:06 PM

It looks very "artsy" to me. The colors aren't ones that I would have chosen either but I'm sure your niece will love it.
You did a great job.

phranny 02-19-2014 06:09 PM

As your signature states, " A quilt is a blanket of love". You have created a blanket of love, and she will love it! I don't mind it at all, and admire you for your perseverance.

Gannyrosie 02-19-2014 06:10 PM

I think it's unique, I like the fabrics, I think if the blue would have matched the main fabric you would have liked it better. But really, I like it, it's different. You did a beautiful job with it.

cathyvv 02-19-2014 06:45 PM

It doesn't matter what we think. What will your niece think?

I love the pattern and the fabrics, but, to be honest, it's kind of busy for me. I have some color challenges, and some colors and entire fabrics 'disappear' in a busy quilt when I look at it, so I truly might be missing something.

(Until I learned that i had color issues, I thought everyone else did (LOL))

What I can see is that the quilting is great!

stillclock 02-19-2014 10:01 PM

yeah....done!

Must say I agree wholeheartedly....nicely quilted I might add.

oldquilter 02-20-2014 05:05 AM

It is very unusual, but they are all built with live, which makes them beautiful:)

gabeway 02-20-2014 05:43 AM

Reminds me of pacman video game. You did great!

Quilter 65 02-20-2014 07:19 AM

Since she picked it out, I am sure she will be pleased. Glad it is done for you to give it to her. There is a woman in our little quilt group that has finished a GFG and she vows, "never again." Imagine each of us has had one.

sandyfullmer 02-20-2014 09:55 AM

I really like it too! Her fabric choice works well with that pattern.

wolph33 02-20-2014 10:10 AM

that is very unique one of a kind quilt and I think I like it

QUILTNMO 02-20-2014 10:31 AM
