Feeling the fabric??? heck no...I would be rolling in it!! Might even do it naked if the fabric hasn't been pre-washed already...but after sitting for so many years, maybe it needs a little excitement like a trip through the washing machine! Congrats! Definitely go out and at least buy a lottery ticket!! What luck!
|
You weren't kidding!!
I thought you were getting a little stash - this is INCREDIBLE!!! Congrats again! |
Another jackpot winner! Wow.

STAR, This is a wonderful gift that you have received. It happened to me about 4 years ago. My friend and I went to a garage sale and the daughter was selling some of her Mom's material. Her Mom had congestive heart failure and couldn't quilt anymore. We left our names and phone number with the daughter and the daughter called us a month later that she had
planned to give us Everything that her Mom had for fabrics and books, etc. Her Mom had a beautiful kit for hand applique that she hadn't started. We felt guilty for the gift but told the daughter we belonged to a quilt guild and do charity quilts for needy people. We were able to use alot of the material for that purpose. The daughter didn't care what we did with the material. She knew she didn't want any of it. Eiltcoq. |

WOW!

It would be nice to repay her in a way for her generosity. Certainly, a small lapquilt or wall hanging, placemats or a bag would be lovely. If you do not want to make something, or think she might be embarrassed, perhaps each time you use some of her fabric, you make a charitable donation to a charity of HER choice....well, not everytime, just every so often. I'm sure she would just love to see the smile on your face in any case. Most quilters get such joy out of someone loving what they love. Be sure to pass on her generosity as she did to you.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh....lovely. |
Such a find!! Happy day!!
|
Wow! You lucky girl! You are going to be busy, busy, busy! I bet you are having a blast going through it all!

ALL but 3 totes from her stash is now here at my house, well my mom kept 2 totes at her place but still. I am sure she has givin me a few thousand in material, books, etc. I even have a quilt frame and a mini iron I am in the process of sorting through it and trying to fold and pack in a way that I can see and access it all easier. there are several fabrics that have atleast 8 yds!! so now I have backing!! she paid$$$ per yd for a lot of these. I was so guilty after picking it up becauase I felt like I robbed her. she told me that I saved her life  she also said that if I buy any material in the next year that I deserve to die  I am going on a shop hop with DH this weekend  but DH said that it is exempt and after that I can't buy for atleast six months ;-) I can handle that!! now where do I start........
I can just imagine how thrilled you are <wave> |
Do you have room for all that? I'd have to add a room to my house! It's a wonderful and awsome gift.
A few years ago a friend who had worked with my DH asked him if I might want HER stuff. I said DUH, no brainer here. It turns out she gave me a quilting frame that her dearly departed had made for her. Plus a lot of her stash. The rest she donated to her guild. The reason was that she and her DH had quilted together. He cut, she pieced. He quilted on the frame along side of her. He and she were both retired and until he retired he had never so much as looked at her stuff or her quilts. But retirement made a different man of him. When he died she suffered so much grief that she could no longer quilt. It was so sad, but she seemed much happier with it all out of her house. Now she's involved with the Little Theater and League of Women Voters. She too has become a whole different person. |
Wish I had someone give me all those things!! WOW! You are going to have a great time going through all your "stuff"!!! Lucky lucky you! Enjoy it all!
