Does anyone know the name of this pattern? Or have you seen it anywhere? I know it is some type of wedding ring, but I haven't seen that many with the star in the center. This is a quilt my neighbor got in Arkansas.

CAROLJ 06-23-2010 07:26 PM

That is a beautiful quilt. She is lucky to have found it.

raptureready 06-23-2010 07:28 PM

Never in my life have I seen a quilt with that pattern. It's absolutely breathtaking though.

cjomomma 06-23-2010 07:32 PM

I have a book with different wedding ring quilts but not this one. This is a stunning wedding ring. I hope you find the pattern for it.

Yes, it is called the Golden Wedding Ring according to Robert Bishop in his book "The Romance of Double Wedding Ring Quilts". This is a book I checked out of the library so many times I decided to find myself a copy. It has patters for templates to this quilt in the back. But it looks like that link to ebay has them already made for you. And cheaper than the book, though it is a beautiful book. I like to drool.

Fiber Artist 06-24-2010 12:07 PM

Nice quilt,I have never seen stars in the middle.

ann clare 06-24-2010 02:02 PM

Stunning quilt

Yarn or Fabric 06-24-2010 05:01 PM

You are so lucky to have a library that has that book! I wouldn't mind brining it home to get that pattern - and start on it now for each of my boys from when they get married lol - they're only 7 & 9 but it might take me that long to get two of them finished - just gorgeous!!

I'll keep my eyes open for a copy of that book - I am sure it will float around from time to time :)

grammyp 06-24-2010 05:33 PM

That is beautiful, thanks MimiMaryV for the name.

My grandmother said it is a double wedding ring with double star centers. The story behind the block she said is the center star is the bride and the larger star is the groom who promises to protect his bride at all means. The rings are what bind them together. My Grandmother is 83yrs old and said it is a 1930 to 1940 pattern. She said she believes it was first printed in the newspaper.

nanabirdmo 06-30-2010 05:13 AM

I am not familiar with this pattern but I'm sure if I got a really close look I would know. Just send it on to me and I will get back to you. 8-) 8-) 8-)

What a lovely "story" to go along with this beautiful quilt.

What a beauty your neighbor has. Thanks for sharing.

Paulette Baran 06-30-2010 09:34 AM

It is called Golden Wedding ring, My mother and I made one and it is beautiful. She used Polish cotton for the star and the rest is your regular cotton.

I have the pattern in one of the old magazines.

Paulette Baran 06-30-2010 11:35 AM

It is Golden Wedding Ring, my mother and I made one and she used polish cotton for the star and it was to be for my father on their 50th wedding anniversary. I have the pattern in an old quilt magazine. Arkansas is where I am from and my parents never let the state.
