Update on Brown and Teal Quilt....

3 Attachment(s)
Remember this quilt? I changed the border to a solid brown and it seemed to have made a difference. The back is pieced with the left over fabric, and I made two pillow cases in brown, with a teal print cuff. My friend is quite happy with the result. Thanks for all your candid comments and suggestions, and for looking.

Changing the borders makes it look like a different quilt. Both versions are very pretty!!

They are both lovely! I am a printy-floraly quilter so I do like the 2nd quilt. However the brown is very striking!

I sashed a 10 inch square then sewed 2 different blocks together diagonally, then cut apart. Missouri Star Quilt has a tutorial called the Magic Square. Check it out. I found it very easy to follow.

I didn't see it the first time around but I love it! And thanks for the tip about the Missouri Star Quilt tut for the "Magic Square". I'll definitely check it out.

very nice. Front and back. I'm reminded of light and shadows through windows.

joyce888 09-16-2012 10:30 AM

I don't know which is the "before" but I like them both.

Turned out fabulous. Reminds me of shafts of light. The blues and browns play very nice together!

Beautiful.

bearisgray 09-17-2012 06:21 AM

The solid brown border sure made it more 'masculine looking' to me. I like it much better than the floral border.

A very nice quilt.

knitpurlgrrl 09-17-2012 06:49 AM

Love the colors. Beautiful front and back. What is the block pattern you used for the front?

MimiBug123 09-17-2012 10:17 AM

Really pretty. You did a wonderful job on a beautiful quilt!

susansomethings 09-17-2012 10:28 AM

Yep you nailed it this time..brown boarder is much nicer! Men's opinions often make a world of diffirence. Much more manly now.

TacoMama 09-17-2012 10:55 AM

This is just beautiful. I love the 3rd picture of the quilt you posted. Thanks for posting.

beatys9 09-17-2012 11:11 AM

Very pretty - I love the color combination & pattern. What is the pattern?

lallyann 09-17-2012 11:49 AM

Wow! the border change really does change the look of the quilt! The solid brown does make it more guy-ish and actually I think I like it better! Good job...and thanks for sharing both pics. I am truly amazed at the difference the two borders make!

margie77072 09-17-2012 02:58 PM
