Just finished this and couldn't wait to show you all, I am so pleased with it, I do make a rod for my own back by just winging it, not following any pattern - just working out what to do next when I get there...well last night I put all four borders on,cleared a big space in the little sitting room downstairs - spread it all out (it's in two pieces diagonally, as I will quilt it by machine and it would be too big as a whole).
Well.......OMG DUHHHHH   !! I completely forgot that the join isn't dead centre but off set soooooo, the border from one side actually bridges over the other, my problem??? I had cut all the excess off thinking as I did so  why is this border soooo long :? Well today I did some rip rip rippping, and more cut cut cutting, then sew sew sewing AGAIN and FINALLY I get to show you guys and gals what all the fuss was about  Next process....how the heck am I gonna quilt it??????? suggestions please :D |

That is the coolest quilt ever!

I really love that background fabric! Pretty kitties! Very nice job!
Ooooh Izy, that is a fantastic quilt, so vibrant.
It certainly is Katrine, just hope my son can cope with the magenta pink backing, I bought extra fabric to make a dust frill and pillows, really girly lol!!
Thanks Krazy & Shelly :D |
Izy-I love love love it!! So cheery :D
It is so awesome Izy!!!!!
Woo! So bright!!! I love love love it! :)
:D :D :D
Come on you guys, gimme a clue how to quilt it quick n easy please :D |
Wow, Izy - very nice! That's a lot of little pieces sewn together! Machine quilting is my weakness, so I would have no idea how to suggest to quilt it. Great job.
Oooh, it's gorgeous Izzy!!! Hmm, well, for me, the quickest and easiest way to quilt it would be in straight lines, along the edges of all the sashings and inner sashings, but just do it right from one edge of the quilt straight through :)
I want to quilt by machine in two halves like i did my sampler, I really fancy having a go at meandering it but I am SCARED  of making a mess of it then have to unpick...I did in the ditching Barb on the last one and just fancy doing something different on this.... :? :D

Love it! That quilt just sings happy!
Lol.I banished Sasha as she would have run all over it while I was trying to get a picture, so included my 'substitute' Sasha, John bought it for me when we first came over to Spain as we left Sasha with my Mum while we got the villa and grounds in order and he knew I would miss her like mad!! Sasha 2 yaps and walks, but no pee pee's or poo poo's
WOW ! Awesome ! Asfor how to quilt I have no clue, but it is gorgeous

Oh Iz you are such a kick! I thought I was the only one who would get "all ready to be done" then discover I had made a big boo boo!!
Your quilt is absolutely gorgeous! so bright and cheery! I think you could do about anything in the quilting part and it would still be delightful. |
meandering quilting would be great on that why don't you try sandwiching a couple pieces of muslin abot 14 or 16 inches and practice and if you are worried use monifilement thread on top and something in the bobbin that would blend into the top in case your tension is not perfect but practice first and always remember to pull the bobbin thread to the top you can do it have fun

I really like it!! Great work.

Izy--I absolutely love it. I think if you have practiced doing the meanandering you should just go for it and set a limit on yourself if you need to. LOL Easier said than done though when the end is in site isn't it?? I am sure you will do just fine.
