My block is 24" (finished). Thanks to all who helped me figure out how to enlarge the pattern from Carol Doan's free pattern. I think this will be the start of a medallion quilt....

This is great! And the middle design is SO pretty!

FabStripper 01-26-2016 04:23 PM

Wow this is pretty. I also love the middle block. Can you share the measurements for your square? I think it makes a pretty wall hanging.

KLO 01-26-2016 04:48 PM

This will certainly be a beautiful quilt with that medallion in the center. You did a great job enlarging it and picking out the fabric. I too love that middle block and am wondering if that was why you wanted to enlarge the original block .... so you could use that "snowflake" in the center? No matter, it turned out great!!!

jillmc 01-26-2016 04:56 PM

Thanks all! The batik snowflake IS the reason I wanted to enlarge the block! I have 5 of them left, and I am trying to find ways to use them. I "believe" they are Hoffman batik, but there is no ID on the piece I have left.
Each block is 8" finished. i may add a small border to this one and use it as a table topper....but I really want to use this as the beginning of a medallion quilt....

Your block is beautiful. I appreciate you sharing your success into 'new territory' to show others that patterns and concepts can be changed up to fit your needs. It encourages others to reach beyond their current level of confidence.

Beautiful. Great block and colors.

Altairss 01-28-2016 09:44 AM

Gorgeous and give me Ideas on how to use my Hoffman panels. I believe the center is from one of the Hoffman holiday flourish silver panels. I have two from different years and remember almost buying that one. They are on the eighth collection now I believe. really Love this.

feline fanatic 01-28-2016 10:20 AM

That turned out great! And I agree you should use it as the center of a medallion quilt. You can maybe use some of your remaining snowflake batiks as cornerstones on some of the border rounds commonly used in medallion style quilts.

ManiacQuilter2 01-28-2016 11:05 AM

That came out so nicely. I knew you could do it!

carolynjo 01-28-2016 02:45 PM
