I made a quilt for my new niece, which I titled "Autumnal Little Ponies" because the colors reminded me of a collection of My Little Pony toys.

And here's a detail with some of the free motion quilting showing on the flannel back.

With snippets from "Sherbert for 20" I made a collection of these spit-up rags -- free motion quilting on flannel.

And then, this was absolutely all that was left. . . For scale, the pink square is less than 3/4 "

With the scraps from the Autumnal ponies, I made this quilt, which I call "Strawberry Shortcake".

With the scraps from Strawberrry Shortcake, I made this large doll quilt/small wallhanging, which I call "Sherbert for a party of 20"

That is the prettiest photo of a quilt display I have seen yet! Your little story was wonderfully environmentally friendly. You are terrific.

wvdek 06-16-2010 08:45 AM

Ditto all the above. Thought I was looking at a quilt magazine.
What is the pinkish/red bush/vine growing? Beautiful.

franie 06-16-2010 08:47 AM

I think the background matches the colors in the quilt. Wow all three using the same fabric--nice job. Waste not want not.

RST 06-16-2010 08:52 AM

Thanks for all the nice comments. This has got to be the most supportive and pleasant board on the internet (speaking as a quilt board newbie, but scrapbook board oldtimer).

It is interesting how all those pinks, which did not seem like good fall colors, worked really well with the yard, isn't it? I don't know what that bush is called -- it has sharp thorns, very small red berries in winter, the leaf is almost a box-wood, but it grows with long shoots. I'm lucky that my yard stays looking nice with very little work on our part -- we just pick up the leaves and try to tidy up and let it do what it will -- love that about the Pacific Northwest.

smtp5 06-16-2010 08:58 AM

They are all very nice and beautiful!

Jim's Gem 06-16-2010 09:04 AM

Very pretty!

STAR 06-16-2010 11:06 AM

there is a scrapbook board????

nessacoop 06-18-2010 02:00 AM

Less is more. I love the simplicity of these quilts, they seem honest - pure. It takes a definite sophistication to do 'simple'.

shopaholic97 06-18-2010 03:45 AM

They look great. What a way to use up you fabric

katier825 06-18-2010 03:53 AM

You did a great job! I can't believe how little you had left when you were thru!

I just love that Swanky fabric. I've got several Swanky turnovers just waiting to become a pinwheel quilt. I've got another grandbaby on the way...I'm hoping it's a girl. It would be such a pretty baby quilt.
