Here's a couple of pics of a Valentines wall hanging I finished while ago using a Thimbleberries panel. It measures 32" x 34". I did stippling in the focus panel and free-motion quilting in the border areas. I also did a blanket-stitch around the applique designs to give them more definition. Now to go hang this little sweetheart up!

How sweet!

Did you make it for your sweetie?

bugsmom 01-16-2010 05:34 PM

OMG that is beautiful!

mysacrifice 01-16-2010 05:42 PM

So pretty! I have to ask, where do you buy your fabric locally? We have no more fabric stores in Conway, so I've been going to a few in Little Rock/Alexander area. I'm thinking I may have to open my own in Faulkner County just because I am getting tired of driving so far!

quilter girl 01-16-2010 06:04 PM

Eddie 01-16-2010 06:09 PM

Thanks, y'all! Yep, my sweetie liked it, too! :D

I go to Pinwheels Fabrics in Alexander a lot, was there this afternoon. My wife and I went there to buy fabric for mystery quilts we're making in our guild this year.

I also go to Hobby Lobby, both in west Little Rock and North Little Rock.

We went to the Joann's in NLR today as well, since we'd never been there. Was very impressed with all their fabric, they have a LOT.

We also go to a shop in Hot Springs called Hickory Hill Sewing Center. They have a very nice shop, although not as much fabric as say Pinwheels, but the people are super nice and they have some really interesting notions and patterns and such.

Have you been to the new shop in Pickles Gap, just east of Conway? I've heard good things about it and their online site looks nice.

mysacrifice 01-16-2010 06:29 PM

I've been to pinwheels and love their store. I've also been to Hickory Hills, and you are right, the ladies are so helpful and nice! I go to Hobby Lobby in Conway, and occasionally I'll go to Joann's. You've peeked my interest, so I'm going to have to go back again. I did visit the Pickles Gap store after it initially opened. It may have grown since I was there, but I don't remember them having much selection. Super nice girl tho'. I just about got husband talked into taking another trip to Batesville (Marshall's). Last time I was there I got 70 yards of higher end fabric - free spirit, Moda, Marcus. Etc. Thanks for the info! Oh, and I forgot, we are building a cabin in Heber and the have the BEST quilting store there! Heber Sew and Vac. So nice,

Adorable. My daughter would love this one. Me, too. Where and when did you find this panel?
As always, you do extraordinary work.

Sheila Elaine 01-16-2010 09:16 PM

Eddie, if you can find a bamboo stick (I had some a neighbor discarded couple of years ago), clean it up & run it through the loops, or maybe Wal-Mart has wooden rods that you can used. I'm sure places like home Depot or any building supply has wooden dowels. It is so sweet looking.

littlehud 01-16-2010 09:34 PM

I put together this very same panel for my daughter for her birthday last year. Her birthday is in February and so it was perfect. That got me started on making a wall hanging or table topper for her for every holiday. It has been fun for me and she loves it too!

craftybear 01-17-2010 12:41 PM
