Has anyone ever made one like this?
I can't seem to find any info about it online...
I was going to wait before starting this one, since we didn't have all the right colours I wanted at work, but we got a new collection today with the perfect fabrics for this... sooooo, yeah.
I have no idea where the pattern comes from, my mother picked it up and gave it to me at Christmas, but now she can't remember where she got it.

Jim's Gem 01-12-2010 08:28 PM

Never made one. That is beautiful!!!

OdessaQuilts 01-12-2010 08:53 PM

I recall seeing that one. I think it was put out by the company (Northcott?), as a way to suggest using that line of fabric. Have you tried to Google the pattern name? I want to say that I saw it online somewhere, but I can't tell you how long ago it was or anything else about it.

I'm sure you'll find it; just keep looking. Good luck!

Ditter43 01-12-2010 09:40 PM

I'm sure i've seen that design before but where...I haven't a clue!! What kind of fabrics do you plan to use? Be sure to share it when you get started..

Sure is pretty, but can't help you with who put the pattern out.
Isn't there something somewhere on the packaging?

Oklahoma Suzie 01-13-2010 05:33 AM

Have not seen it, but it's beautiful.

sewjoyce 01-13-2010 06:00 AM

That's a beautiful pattern!!!

Baren*eh*ked_canadian 01-13-2010 06:53 AM

It's by Northcott, that much I know, but I haven't been able to find it on their site. I only found one other picture online of a quilt that someone made using this pattern, but it's not a very good picture, it's kind of cut off...

granny216 01-13-2010 06:57 AM

Since I haven't been to a quilt shop in some time I haven't seen this one but it is beautiful..Have to put that on my list...what number is that now?

Ducky 01-13-2010 07:30 AM

Wow, that would not only be gorgeous, it would be FUN to do!

Bevanger 01-13-2010 07:32 AM

no, but it sure is pretty

wvdek 01-13-2010 08:30 AM

No, never made one, but sure is pretty.

paintedquilt 01-13-2010 08:54 AM

This is a Northcott pattern

barnbum 01-13-2010 09:32 AM

Oh you will do that one perfectly! I can't wait to see it.

blondeslave 01-13-2010 10:14 AM

I found this link but I'm not clever enough to figure out if it's the whole pattern.

This looks like the whole pattern -- but I needed to make the 2nd page a LOT larger to read it

2 Doods 01-13-2010 02:37 PM

Oh, that pretty! I'm anxious for your pictures! Go Girl!

Marjpf 01-13-2010 02:43 PM

It is beautiful - maybe if you contacted Northcott they could tell you more.

Jingle 01-13-2010 02:59 PM

That would be a pretty to make, I would not have enough patience to make it - No idea what the pattern is. Please show pictures when you have it finished.

QuiltMania 01-13-2010 03:16 PM

There's a company called Quilter's Treasure that makes stained glass quilts. They might have a pattern for what you are looking for. I believe their website is www.quilterstreasure.com.

boxerlady 01-13-2010 03:24 PM

that is a beautiful pattern

your's is a much better picture, but I actually have the pattern and instructions, I was just wondering if anyone had made one, because I can't seem to find any pics of finished ones to compare to, you know? Usually when you have the pattern name and run a search, there are tons of pics of quilts done with that pattern that turn up but not this time :(
Thanks for the link, though, it's a much much better pic than the one I have on the paper :)

OdessaQuilts 01-13-2010 05:58 PM

I've loved this pattern for quite a while, too. The fabric requirements are incredible, but it would be just gorgeous made up. I would likely use Moda marbles or another line that looks kinda like stained glass for it. It will be lovely when it's done. And yes, blondeslave, that is the right pattern.

Did anybody notice how many 7/8" strips of black had to be cut??? 137!!! I think that's a cutting job for several days! lol

Baren*eh*ked, let us know if you are going to start this project and if so, we want pictures! It's such a beauty, someone has to make it!

BKinCO 01-13-2010 07:39 PM

That is beautiful! I can't wait to see YOUR creation! Hurry and make it so we can all drool!!

Yeah, but if you sew everything together and stip piece, it's not as bad as it looks. I had to re-read the section a couple of times to understand, because I didn't really feel like sewing 900 little black strips. You actually cut them into long strips and sew them to either side of your colours, and then cut in triangles... it's really hard to explain, though.

dakotamaid 01-13-2010 08:09 PM

Yup, it is, I ran it off, directions are kinda hard to understand but there is a diagram. This is on my to-do list

k3n 01-14-2010 12:50 AM

Oh my! That is beautiful! The pattern is downloaded and on my list! I love the look of stained glass. I'm thinking this could look good in muted batiks. :-D

Like Mel says, I'd like to see pics of other versions too so Mel, get on and make one then show us!

Janstar 01-14-2010 04:32 PM

That will be a beauty Mel, can't wait to see you finish it!

bearpaw 01-15-2010 07:22 AM

I think I found one:

Saw something similar - it was called turning twenty simply sashed.

I too fell in love with the Venetian Glass Quilt and although it was a king sized quilt (and I don't have a king sized bed), I made it! I showed it at my guild's quilt show in 2008. However, my DD and DSIL (who have a king sized bed) came to the show and after the show was over, SURPRISE, it went home with my DD. I used the Batik 5-inch squares that we exchanged at the guild, a cream Batik and lots and lots of black Kona. Every time I visit my DD, I check and sure enough, the Venetian Glass quilt is on their bed!

littlehud 01-16-2010 11:12 PM

Oh my, that is beautiful.

Did you take pictures of it?

Belles.hold 01-17-2010 08:13 PM

Unfortunately no - - but I'll ask my daughter to take a photo and email it to me and I'll put it on the board. Thanks for being interested.

Dear Baren*eh*ked_canadian, as promised, here is a photo of the Venetian Glass Quilt I made and is now gracing my daughter's king sized bed. As I said previously, it was a lot of fun to assemble, and a killer to quilt. Because it was longer than 96-inches, I had to sew a sleeve on the long side in order to display it at my Guild's Quilt Show. Also, my centers were 5-inch squares (4-1/2 finished) and the "leading" (Kona Black) was cut one-inch (1/2 inch finished). Can't wait to see yours.

wow, that's beautiful!!!
I bet it took you forever to do, though!
I found the fabrics I want to use to make this quilt, but I have a couple lined up before that, and honestly, I don't have the money to put on more fabric right now... I think Sasha might just strangle me if I come in with more fabric, lol!
