I grew up in the Vietnam War era (dating myself here) and it's important that we show these men and women how much we appreciate what they do for us. I also make quilts for wounded soldiers. I have a number of family members serving in the military now, most especially, my youngest son. I made a quilt & a signature wallhanging of all the people that attending his going away party for him before he left on his first deployment. He doesn't take the quilt when he goes overseas, just the wallhanging, so that we're there with him.

What an amazing site to see, so beautiful, makes me tear up. My friends just lost a son in Kahndahar Province a few weeks ago, he was 21 years old and was shot in the barracks, just so sad.
