Beautiful stockings. I used to a lot of heirloom sewing with shadow work embroidery and smocking, Martha Pullen was my favorite and her shows in Arlington, Texas was a yearly have to go to.

I am thrilled to share these - before purchasing my long arm I was dabbling in this style of heirloom quilting on my domestic machine and was having a great time. It has taken me almost a year to get to this point on my long arm...where I can do detail work! I have an older machine so it's a little more finicky to move...and I also have no stitch regulation so the learning curve was a bit longer...but I'm thrilled to be able to create this kind of quilting...finally!!
These are Victorian/heirloom inspired stockings. I'm a huge fan of Cindy Needham and her linen quilts and I am making three stockings for each of my daughters in that style. I want to add beads and vintage lace to these when done, but I'm still playing and making it up as I go! Fun!! :) The first photo is a close up of the front of the first stocking, and the second is the reverse side. I think I'm going to do these trapunto effect feathered backings for all three, but the front will have different patterns. |
I am in love with the work you did. Just beautiful! I have always loved whole cloth quilts, and these are so elegant.
