Vintage Feed Sack Quilt quilted!

4 Attachment(s)
I purchased this vintage feed sack quilt top at an estate auction in 2007 for $2.00!!!

It had not been cut or sewn together precisely and didn't lay flat, so I "nipped & tucked" it and got it reasonably flat. I also added the cream calico print outer border to make it large enough for a full-sized bed.

I FMQ'd it using a thrift store-purchased sheet for backing (I used the sheet wrong side out to tone down the brightness of the stripes) and used W & N cotton batting.

It is a gift for my sister. She lets us use her vacation condo in FL and I made it for the bed in her guest room! :)

I love the way it turned out! I hope the person who made the top would be happy with the way it turned out!

That came out beautiful! I love your choice for the backing and the quilting is lovely. How did you do the pretty label? It looks hand-lettered.

Who ever made this quilt would be so, so proud to see what you did with it. It is fabulous and anyone would be very proud to own it. The fabric you added is perfect and the backing is also perfect for the quilt and so thrifty. It is a lovely quilt indeed. Great job.

Thanks you so much for your comments. I made the label on my Husqvarna Viking Platinum 775. It does basic lettering.

Ditto for me also. Also this is why I love the QB...I probably would have never thought to use the wrong side of a sheet. My mind does not work like that...everything has to match..so I probably wouldn't have bought the sheet in the first place.
