Below are pics of another vintage quilt top that I recently made into a quilt. The top was made (all hand-pieced) by Mary Susan (Weathers) Senter, and she was born in 1843 and died in 1937 at age 93. She married Robert Winthrop Senter in 1861 when she was 18. So the top predates at least 1937.

This is one of about a dozen tops that belonged to a couple that I'm good friends with (he's the grandson of Mary Susan Senter). It measures 70" x 82".

I quilted this on my longarm using a pantograph pattern of leaves and vines.

Love those vintage quilts, and the quilting is fantastic too!

earthwalker 05-19-2010 07:05 PM

Ms Senter would be ecstatic that such an accomplished quilter was "collaborating" to create such a stunning quilt. The leaves and vines really showcase the blocks. Ah, Eddie....your work is beautiful!

You do such a wonderful job, Eddie. Just delighted to see these old tops turning into quilts. I am sure Susan would be pleased, too.

Just gorgeous! You are talented! And you churn out these masterpieces so quickly, do you work a 'regular job' or do this full time now?
Kind Regards,

Still work a 40-hour a week job, so only have time for quilting in the evenings and on weekends. :(

OMG, I love it!

janquilts'ncrochets 05-20-2010 05:59 PM

Eddie, you have done a great job on your longarm in the short time you've had it. A friend recently bought a Gammil and may teach me how to help her quilt on it. I'm a little intimidated, but willing to learn. Jan

I really like this one Eddie.

I love how the hearts also look like Heart Leaf Philodendron leaves.

Nice job.

GREAT job! <wave>

patti-cakes 05-21-2010 08:19 AM

Oh Eddie this is my favorite one so far! Brings me to tears as you have done great justice to all her quilts and I know how I would feel if someone treated my hard work with such honor as you have hers. Mrs. Senter would be so proud!

JCL in FL 05-21-2010 02:39 PM

Your friend must be thrilled to have his grandma's quilts come to life. How lucky he is to have you for a friend and what a great place for you to practice with your new baby. Looks great.

pvquilter 05-21-2010 04:36 PM

Eddie:
What kind of batting do you use. The quilting sure shows up nicely?

chickadee_42us 05-21-2010 04:44 PM

Caught on quick to the LA.

Congratulations on being a part of this quilt. Your quilting is very inspiring.
