6 1/2 inch square has 71 pieces. Love ut but what was i thinking. 17 more to go.

osewme 10-18-2016 03:54 PM

That's gorgeous. Paper piecing is my great desire but I have such a problem with it. Everything seems backwards and wrong to me. Keep making them. They are soooo pretty.

tesspug 10-18-2016 04:47 PM

Oh, how pretty. i feel your pain. I've been doing PP with The Splendid Sampler. It is a huge learning curve. If you did this in pinks it would look like Sweet Peas.

Tartan 10-18-2016 05:37 PM

Very pretty!

JuneBillie 10-19-2016 12:24 AM

Beautiful! I have made a few 6 1/2" blocks that were close to that. :)

quilterpurpledog 10-19-2016 03:31 AM

What were you thinking? That this a beautiful block. It is and I am sure you will keep going and have a really spectacular quilt. I also think your background fabric is just perfect. I like PP and do appreciate how involved it is.

QuiltnNan 10-19-2016 03:39 AM

beautiful block!

flikkem 10-19-2016 04:02 AM

Yours is a gorgeous block. It reminded me of the violets my mother used to have. I have not embraced paper piecing yet but I love the effect.

Innov8R 10-19-2016 06:50 AM

If your first one looks that good, 17 more is not much of an obstacle!

LGJARN52 10-19-2016 06:59 AM

Just want to tell you my head had issues with paper piecing at first but after several blocks, I can do it pretty easy. Keep trying it will come.

annette1952 10-20-2016 07:09 AM

Beautiful block! I love to PP. So pretty & accurate

LeslieSusan 10-20-2016 08:19 AM

To osewme:

Sometimes it is all about finding the right tutorial video on YouTube to watch it being done. That is how I have figured out so many things that I have in my own collection of rulers and such. And nice thing is, the tutorials on YouTube that I found are all free.

Remember my friends, quilting is supposed to be fun, and relaxing. It isn't meant to be perfection, just something we make with love for somebody else or ourselves.

Lilrain 10-20-2016 08:57 AM

Wow! Very well done. I don't have the patience.

roserips 10-20-2016 10:12 AM

I love your violet block and the quilt will be worth all the time and effort you spend. Violets are so special to me since they represent the friendship of my best friend who passed away from cancer several years ago.

meanmom 10-20-2016 01:38 PM

Your violet block is beautiful. I love PP. What pattern is that?

Evelynquilts 10-20-2016 02:11 PM

beautiful :)

ube quilting 10-20-2016 02:12 PM

Beautiful x 10. What is the name of the pattern, please. I love this! Going to be fabulous.
peace

maryellen2u 10-20-2016 03:39 PM

It is gorgeous. You must keep going. We are all waiting with baited breath. Now share the name of the fabric and the quilt pattern!

sewbizgirl 10-20-2016 03:48 PM

It's so pretty and well worth the effort. I did the Farmer's Wife 1930's Sampler quiltalong with the ladies here on the board, and there were 99, 6.5" squares. Loads of them had even more pieces than your violets. I made 81 of the 99 blocks, paper pieced, and loved every minute of them!

Hang in there....

vmquilts 10-20-2016 04:07 PM

Don't know what the background fabric is called. Pattern is field of violets that is picture piecing by Cynthia England. All sewn by machine.
