Wacky Rails made by Linda

This picture does not do Linda's quilt justice. She is such a talented piecer! I chose Hobbs 80/20 batting, a neutral thread (Summer Beige) and quilted with SID the entire body of the quilt. The borders I quilted with serpentine tube quilting.

Yes, it does look like "Lover's Knot"; however, with this pattern (Wackey Rails) the blockes are pieced then cut apart and pieced again. The book has several different layouts for the finished block. I really liked the way Linda put hers together.

Yes, it does have a name. " Wackey Rails " a pamplet that was popular about 4 or 5 years ago. I purchased the book from a quilt shop that is now no longer in business. I made a pink and green quilt from the pattern and sent that quilt to the Joplin, Mo. area last fall to be donated to the tornatoe victims. Right after I finished the quilt I gave my pattern away, knowing I would never make it again. Wish I could remember the name of the designer. It might be located by googling the web for it (?)

This is a very pretty quilt, and very nice quilting!

labug 03-06-2012 06:32 AM

Beautiful quilt

jillaine 03-06-2012 07:02 AM

It's really great to see how a straightforward stitch-in-the-ditch can be an excellent choice for a quilt. AND it works on the back as well. Really nice work, both of you!

chairjogger 03-06-2012 07:18 AM

very cool !

Trying to figure this pattern. Looks like it' built in a square log cabin. 2 blocks that are cut into 4 quarters, turned and sewed. Anyone else figure this one out?

Izaquilter 03-07-2012 06:19 AM

Jingle 03-07-2012 07:00 AM

I LOVE that quilt!!! She did an awesome job with colors and the pattern is great! I also LOVE what you did to it!!! It compliments it rather than taking away from the quilt!!!! :) :) GOOD JOB!

solstice3 03-07-2012 07:03 AM

What a nice job...front and back

so-sew 03-07-2012 07:20 AM

Love it. I like to see a quilt that can be described as "masculine"....so few are, and I have two boys and a husband I'm always thinking about making quilts for. Thanks for sharing.

2annes 03-07-2012 07:27 AM

A beautiful graphic quilt.

scraphq 03-07-2012 08:37 AM

Wonderful quilt. Love the quilting, no competion between the beautiful piecing and the quilting. I"m still hand-quilting, but I would choose you to do my machine quilting.
