Today at our guild meeting, I was busy burying all the thread ends into my sampler quilt and I was diligently placing all the cut ends on the table in a pile, but being Spain and boy has it been warm today, we had all the windows and doors open...needless to say all the blinking bits of thread kept blowing off.

I was surfing the net looking at a craft site that Twistedstitcher put on Bevs topic looking for a fish (can't recall what its called  ) and came upon this......

So I played nice and made one ......what do you think???

It's a cute little pot for sticking all your bits in!!!

Its a bit fiddly...but I like fiddly, you are supposed to handstitch the last seams, but I was too impatient to finish it, so just took a tiny seam which you can see at the turnover...but who cares!! :D

jacquemoe 09-16-2008 02:10 PM

That is cuter than a bed bug in socks Izy!!! I just love it!!! Hmmmm I'm thinking that would work really great for ohhhh say Barbie shoes, stray crayons ( i could use a light vinyl, so it could be wiped clean inside), that bulky sharp play jewelry that I find daily with my bare feet....hmmmm cool beans!! Thanks Izy!!!

Fiddly, is right! I had some issues! Probably all me, but I did finally did grasp the concept. And I stole your idea of the pin cushion too. I had "extras" from my first attempt at the thread catcher!

Thanks for the inspiration, Izy!

OK...call me the dumbest idiot on earth...but I can't seem to comprehend HOW to do this. Look at the pics and tell me where to go next. I've gotten it to this point. DH, me and 3 different ladies at the LQS tried to figure it out..can't...Izy & Chele...you must be geniuses!!

Do I end the sewing here or do I start to sew here??

I'm ok to here

Flipped the leg over..do I start to sew here? How far do I sew..not all the way to the end of the leg I bet..

Izy 10-05-2008 01:05 PM

Patti...I have forgotten lol....let me think, start sewing from the centre to the end where the two meet, then do the others just the same, the last one is abit fiddler, I did them on the machine you are supposed to do by hand but I was impatient as usual, the 'legs' end up on the diagonal and the leftover ends end up on point....does that help tee hee!!

Izy 10-05-2008 01:07 PM

Patti I just looked again at the pictures, it did take me awhile to figure out which way to lay the legs, I am now think you have it the wrong way round.......double check your layout with the 'destrutions' to be sure, I remember you sew from the centre to the edge.....

Izy 10-05-2008 01:09 PM

If you visualise the 'four patch' as the base of the pot, the seams have to go up and out from there, not across it......don't think I am being much use am I???????

Izy 10-05-2008 01:13 PM

OK pennys dropped!!

You are pointing to the wrong edge, do the outside edge of the one your finger is on!!.... (Bottom of picture)

sandpat 10-05-2008 03:05 PM

Ok..I'm gonna "play" with it just this 1 more night on the couch while I watch tv. After that...GRRRRR...well, I just don't know. Hope you slept well Izy.

huggyface 10-06-2008 04:33 AM

I'm going to try one, it doesn't look complicated till you get to the hand sewing, what to sew where. I like the idea

sandpat 10-06-2008 04:36 AM

GGGGRRRRRR...have now thrown it across the room...my brain has some kind of block against doing this one.

sandpat 10-06-2008 04:36 AM

Could you send me pics of how to do the hand sewing when you figure yours out??

Chele 10-06-2008 05:13 AM

I think I made the same error as you with the first one I attempted. Check the position of your arms. It's hard to explain, but really study that first picture she shows of the layout.

P.S. It was a booger of a pattern (for me!), but I have really enjoyed using mine!
