Does anyone know where to find a Betty boop stencil with her head and no clothes? Look at this pattern and see. The article said she used a nude betty stamp and sent it to friends and they added the clothes and sent the blocks back. SO cute.

I thought I could draw her head with pencils and her body....any suggestions?

No suggestions but Betty Boop quilt is great, May in Jersey

How about free coloring book pages online for a pattern

DeeBooper 08-10-2011 04:04 PM

Wow, that is a great quilt...hope you find out how to make it and I would love the pattern too.

hperttula123 08-10-2011 04:05 PM

you could make a plastic template to trace her on with a pigma pen. It could be done in a couple of templates. One for her body, another for her hair, eyes and just colored in. I tried to search for a stamp and didn't find anything.

ssnare 08-10-2011 04:07 PM

Debbie, I love Betty Boop. That is such a cute quilt. If you draw her face, send her around with some undies on and please send me a drawn figure pattern. I would like to be in this kind of swap. I will put clothes on her - one for you and one for me. Sherry

noahscats7 08-10-2011 04:19 PM

Debbie, Do a search just as I type it. Don't forget the quotation marks. One site had her in lingerie so you could adlib her body. "aunt martha""quilt pattern""betty boop".
Do all of this as one search.

debcavan 08-10-2011 04:32 PM

It is toooooooooo fun to look at all the different outfits.

daisey 08-10-2011 04:36 PM

Me too what a great swap...Betty Boop is so cute!

Nettie Phillips 08-10-2011 05:21 PM

I looked and put in an offer. These are 8"-10" for a 12"blockl. Hope she answers soon. Thanks

also did the search using "aunt martha""quilt pattern""betty Boop". So many things to look at. So we will see.

The writing on bottom of picture is for another quilt in the same book, not this one.

Now you need to find someone who knows how and wants to do a swap like this. Almost a paperdoll betty boop swap. I would join but cannot host it. ♥♥

Great! I hope you get it as much as you like Betty Boop! This looks like a fun project to have your QB friends share in the fun of making outfits for your BB quilt!

If I don't get the bid on the patterns, great idea. I can find cartoon/comic book photo and copy to templates. The magazine it came in does not go into detail, just aparagraph saying she received this from friends. Everyone did a block.

That quilt is just awesome. I reread the posts and not sure how the idea of a swap came about. I have never participated in one but I like that quilt so much that if anyone decided to do a swap, I would be very interested.

just remember Betty is a licensed art and she comes with very serious copyrights!
I hope you get the patterns..that would help!

debbieumphress 08-10-2011 07:08 PM

Hi Jaciqltznok....YOu are right. I actually accepted her counter offer and paid already. The patterns are on the way to me. When I get them I can tell ya'll how to find them too and where. This was from a seller on I something. It was on the link I mentioned above. Thank you. I have such a good Betty collection I know she is a 'heavy" copyright. Gotta love my Boops. I'll post here when they get here. It was 8.50 and I offered 6 and she countered with 7. Gotta meet halfway. This was fun. I never heard of that site before. Now I am a member.

np3 08-10-2011 07:12 PM

Okay, what is the site?

I found this blog with loads of Betty photos, but the one on this page seems closest to nude that I could find other than a few bikini shots. The bikini shots change her body orientation, but they're on there as well, just click the links to the right.

OMG I rec'd the patterns I ordered and they were only 6 pags of hand drawn with brown markers. Copyright blooper. I was a little miffed but oh well. SOmeone should report her. grrrrrrrr But they are nice. Can't use them for this quilt but maybe for painting on things I have. So sad. They were the perfect size for 12" squares too. Oh well.

I was a bit concerned when I saw the site you got them from. Not much protection from this kind of thing.

daisey 08-13-2011 01:04 PM

huge bummer,,,I think if you hand draw something free hand and its not for sale then its ok...That is how I learned to draw by looking at things,,,But as long as you dont sell t
them for example its ok I believe.deb where did you get a picture of that quilt? maybe if you ask the person who posted it maybe they could help you...I am in a quilt group with a person who did something like this,,,she sent a block with the cartoon person drawn on it and the women all put a different appliqued out fit on her,,,it was funny!.

COYOTEMAGIC 08-13-2011 01:08 PM

OOOOOO I'd jump in on this one too!!!

texas granny 08-13-2011 08:52 PM

Very Cute Debbie

Grandma Peg 08-13-2011 09:00 PM

Good luck.

debbieumphress 08-14-2011 06:55 AM

Swap??? I think someone is thinking about it now. I would love to but two skull.brain surgeries the last two months...this would overwhelm me but I would participate. Someone asked me and I can't remember....see???? I have retreat this weekend so will have to get with them afterwards. Maybe ask someone who hosts regularly to do it. If we are not selling the quilt, no copy right infringement.

BTW, the lady who sold those to me said her friend freehand drew those pictures and they are really old. SO I decided to keep them. SHe did not try to deceive anyone.

debbieumphress 08-15-2011 11:25 AM

Ssnare was the one checking for us. And according to PatriceJ we cannot have the swap here. I am sure it is a copyright issue. You can always make your own though and show us a picture. I am looking for official betty boop quilt patterns, if they exist. The one I made last year at retreat in blues was my own design with fussy cuts of her in different fabrics. This magazine said they made it all up, no patterns used and used a betty boop stamp so that might make it legal??? So let's play safe and hope you all make one for yourselfs and share later. Have fun. Thank you ssnare for trying.

Just a quick note (registered so I could tell you about it). I purchased a Betty Boop pattern about 30 yrs ago from Parade Pattern Service through the mail. It is a pattern for making a Betty Boop quilt. Pattern No 7357. You may want to see if the company is still in business, and see if they still have the pattern. Debbie

tealfalcon 09-21-2011 06:44 PM

ohhhhh i love betty boop....i wanna swap

dgwunder 09-22-2011 01:21 PM

Sorry, I won't swap this pattern.

I had purchased it all that time ago so that I could make this for a friend. I'm hoping that I'll have time to do it this sometime soon (now that the kids are grown, etc).

Check to see if the company is still in business and see if you can get the pattern. The company is/was: Parade Pattern Service, Box 144, Old Chelsea Station, New York, NY 10011. Please remember that this is from about 30 years ago! :-)

Debbie
