Cute stuff! You could use flannel too,but that always pills unfortunately. The company that makes that stuff needs to work on that;)

Anyway there is also something called Snuggle that Moda makes. I guess it is pretty top notch:P

I made a quilt with Minke and it was very easy to work with and I loved how it turned out.

Minkee is great, but in Texas, how about just one layer of flannel with no batting. Soft and cuddly without being too heavy.
