Wash Day Stars quilt from Quilt Sampler - Fall/Winter 2006 by Karen Snyder. This one measures 83" x 75" and I used some of the leftover squares in the binding. I really like how it all turned out.

This was a Christmas present for my husband, who informed me that he really likes the older/vintage quilts, so I set to work on this while he was out fishing and hunting this past fall. I was getting a little panicy that I may not finish it, but did, and my daughter kept it at her place until Christmas morning. He never suspected a thing...and really likes it.

Thank you. The backing is actually a flannel top sheet. Costco has flannel sets on sale, cheaper than flannel by the yard, so I pick up a set with the sole intention to use them as backings for quilts. Sweet deal.

I love the design -- and your colors are perfect!! Now I know what I will do with the 100+ 6 1/2" squares I'm getting in the baseball swap. I will sew in half, cut and then match to make 4 patch squares. Not a traditional size but if I'm consistent then it will work

maybe 5" finish??

Would really like to see that when it's finished.

Fiona, your quilt is fantastic! I love the colors, the backing, the borders and especially your pieced binding. I've wondered about that technique...Was it hard to keep the pieced binding from pulling apart while handling? Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful work!
