Ditto! The green looks great.

nor'easter 11-16-2008 08:32 AM

Wow, that was certainly worth waiting for! But, I'm going to go against the flow (so, what else is new?). I don't like the green border. It draws away from the center and you really want the focus to be on that great center. Darker is better, like a dark frame on a very colorful painting. I'd go with something equal to or darker than the inner border you have. How about the deep blue of the top flower? Is there more of that fabric?

Kyiav10 11-16-2008 09:05 AM

Oh, my, that is beautiful!!

Kyia

gcathie 11-16-2008 09:07 AM

Nice job....the green is fine since it matches the flower stems

Moonpi 11-16-2008 09:13 AM

I like it a lot. You can tone down the green with some darker applique, maybe a vine and leaves. The inlaid flowers are a great touch - sometimes watercolors can get a bit bland.

MsSage 11-16-2008 09:50 AM

I Like the green. You have a lot of green in the squares. brings it all together.
BUT if you dont like it take a very dark blue or black piece of fabric and clip it on about midway and leave the room for a bit then come back and see how that does.
I use black mats around my busy bright pictures to focus your eye on the picture.

Quilt4u 11-16-2008 09:54 AM

Wow!!!! That is beautiful.

mary quite contrary 11-16-2008 10:44 AM

I like the green. If you went darker you would lose your thin border.

Harmony 11-16-2008 11:46 AM

Quilt is gorgeous. The green is fine, but I think I'd like it better with blue.

babeegirl 11-16-2008 01:09 PM

Looks great! my suggestion for the border would be a very small cream with a black outer border such as a crackle pattern or something very unassuming but not a flat back.

kathyd 11-16-2008 01:15 PM

I think you could keep the green but make it a narrow border also followed by a wider darker border. Okay that's my 2 cents worth. I like the watercolor look with the flowers on top. Great job.

Butterflyspain 11-16-2008 01:25 PM

Lovely watercolour, was it a kit? I am waiting for the post to bring one for me for my other GD.

JoanneS 11-16-2008 01:52 PM

It was worth waiting for! It's beautiful. The applique is a perfect compliment to the watecolor and vice versa!

JoanneS 11-16-2008 01:55 PM

When I first looked at it, I didn't realize the green was part of it. I agree that it would look better without the green - a bit too much contrast and maybe too wide?

weste 11-16-2008 03:20 PM

You all have given me so many good ideals. Now to make a decision.

sandpat 11-16-2008 04:09 PM

Ohhh, wow...great job!! I also think you can make a better choice than the green. It takes away from that spectacular watercolor look! My eyes look like this  looking at that quilt!

quiltykiwi 11-16-2008 06:12 PM

Hi .
can I put my 2cents in? I love the quilt but feel that a darker border would be better. possibly a bit like the darker colour in the rh corner?
Have not done a watercolour quilt but have it on my "to do" list.
:D Quiltykiwi

quiltykitty 11-16-2008 06:21 PM

That is gorgeous. Good job

Knot Sew 11-17-2008 05:26 AM

Very pretty , I love the affect of the floral fabric :D

Janstar 11-17-2008 06:41 PM

Really beautiful quilt. Never have tried one of those.

Marcia 11-17-2008 07:40 PM

A beautiful quilt that was well worth the wait. Thanks so much for persisting! I like the green, too, but I agree with kathyd--I would make it narrower and then add a wider darker border after it.

Cannot wait to see what you do with it!!! It's spectacular!!!

blmclin 11-20-2008 06:15 PM

I love it. The blending of colors are beautiful.
