Waves of Echinacea Purpurea
1 Attachment(s)
I made this quilt after taking a three day workshop with national quilt artist Karen Eckmeier. While the technique came from her book "Layered Waves", it is my own design (there is no pattern). In this technique, each wave of fabric is top-stitched in place. The flowers (Purple Cone Flowers" are fused and raw edge stitched. Various beads accent the flower centers and stems are couched yarn. This quilt won me a 2nd place ribbon in a local quilt show.

You did a beautiful job with the piece!! The greens are perfect! My guild also had Karen recently come for a lecture and classes- she's a very talented lady.

Gorgeous, I love it.

What a beautiful project and it sounds like a great workshop...congratulations on your well deserved ribbon.
|
Stunning! Great color choices and design. It keeps your eye moving, attracted by the light colors, then seeing the flowers dance and bringing your eyes back again and again. Your work is an inspiration!

That's absolutely beautiful. I've been wanting something spectacular to hang on my sewing room wall & that would definitely do it for me. That quilt deserves a first place & best in the show ribbon in my opinion. I love the combinations for greens you used & the cone flowers are perfect. So sad that there is no pattern because I would love to make something like that (actually....exactly like that). Thanks so much for sharing it & congratulations on your ribbon win.
