Ta Dah!!!!!!!!!!!! My friend Yolie and I went to Marshalls Fabric Store yesterday and went NUTS! First, the people there are the nicest group that you would ever meet! They said they treat everyone like family! If you get a chance - GO! When you walk inside you think -"ohhhhhhhhh myyyyyyyyy gosh!! - WHERE do we begin?" These pictures do NOT show it justice.

stitchinwitch 04-03-2010 05:37 AM

No - it is actually located in Batesville Arkansas - 3 hours from Mountain Grove MO. It would have been a PERFECT day IF I wasn't such a block head and LOST my car keys with the opener and spent around 3 HOURS trying to fix the situation! DUHHHHHHH and this was in Hardy Arkansas - another place where people are unbelieving NICE!!!!

marsye 04-03-2010 05:41 AM

Yep! Thats my favorite place! The wholesale side of the store is mine!!! Stay out!!!

GO!!! GO!!!!! I would drive all day to get to this place! Talk about getting lost in a fabric store!! I've been there twice and I doubt I went down every isle.

Jennifer 04-03-2010 06:51 AM

Lostn51 04-03-2010 06:54 AM

Thats not far from me I need to make a day trip over there and pick up some material. I would not know how to act looking around there.

When we went in, I told my friend that I have enough stash at home for a store myself and probably won't be buying anything. Then we walked in and so much for that!

stitchinwitch 04-03-2010 07:07 AM

I spent only $40 which included embroidery stabilizer, about 10 yards of $100 fabric, some lame, and other fabrics of 1.69, 2.99 and up to 3.99 per yard. Don't worry marsye, I was not allowed to go to the wholesale side YET --- key word - YET!

The online store looks great - but many of the items shown are out of stock when you click "add to cart"- frustrating. Be nicer if they put the out of stock notice under the fabric pic so you knew before adding to cart.

who told you that??? Anyone can buy from the wholesale side!! You are appointed a salesman to help you with pricing and whatever you need. It just means you have to buy the bolts or bundles.....not by the yard. Thats the only way I buy from them and I don't have a tax number! Anyone!

ToucanSam 04-03-2010 10:18 AM

Probably a good thing I'm 500 miles away!

Tink's Mom 04-03-2010 10:42 AM

Checking out MapQuest....Tink and I may have a road trip ahead...wonder if I can have a wiggly purse in the store???? :-D

I bet your already gone!

By the way, about half of the bolts on the wholesale side are partial bolts...like 3-6 yards so they don't cost that much! The last time I went I bought about 40 partial bolts.

Bevanger 04-03-2010 11:40 AM

marsye - where exactly do you live in Arkansas? Is it on the way to "Heaven on Earth"? If so, I just may do that! First I gotta sew up what I got and save some more moolah!

Yes, I agree with this. After the other recent post about this store, I went to their online store and found some stuff I wanted. But, each one was Out of Stock when I tried to add. Frustrating is right!!! They need to keep it updated. Not good customer service!!

I mentioned that to them and they said they are just really busy and probably don't have time to update it everyday. But they said if you call them and place your order and give them the stock number, etc. they probably do have it in stock. But I will tell you that if its at all possible for you to go in person you get better deals than whats on their website. Also they have in-store specials but you usually have to ask what the specials are.

Let's see, Las Vegas to Batesville is only 1511 miles. Google says one day. Pretty sure that means 24 hours. But it is doable. Sounds like a road trip to me! Wish I had lots of money and some quilting friends that wanted to go. Can you imagine?

Oh wait ! better idea, My niece is most likely getting married in the next year. And Memphis is not far, only 127 miles. So, if I go to Marshals on the way, I can buy and ship stuff home, then to the wedding and then back to Marshalls for stuff I forgot. Sounds like a plan to me.

thequilterslink 04-03-2010 05:06 PM

Oh i want to gooooooooooooooo

stitchinwitch 04-03-2010 06:11 PM

It would really be fun if we could all plan to meet there this year, shop and then have lunch at Elizabeths down the street. We could finally see the faces we talk to regularly! Who is up for it?
