Wedding Garden Quilt
1 Attachment(s)
I finished the top and am sending it off to be quilted, as it is quite large 95x103 inches. It will be a bedspread, as I didn't put the long border on the top. The block was a block of the month in our quilt guild a few years back, and was a 15 inch block. I trimmed it down to make a 12 1/2 inch block. Don't know the name of the block, but it is fun to do. I have 35 different floral fabrics in this quilt, and since it is going away as a wedding gift, I plan to make another (not as big) for myself, as I still love collecting floral specialty fabrics and have some left over from this quilt.

This beautiful quilt is going to be a wonderful gift. Great fabric choices.
|
beautiful quilt. However I have to wonder why the maker of this pattern didn't use a square in the middle of the white like she did in the middle of the floral, instead of a 4 patch? would have been a lot easier for you. Might want to think about that if you make another one.

I love the flowers and the way the quilt looks overall.
|
This is a beauty! I have a collection of floral prints. I may have to make one like this.
|
Absolutely beautiful!
|
Beautiful quilt I also collect floral fabrics, I never realized it until someone was looking at my stash and they brought it up. I never even thought of putting that many floral 's together because I thought it would be to busy but now I know you can and that it works. Great job!

This is the best that I have seen for using large floral specialty print fabric. I absolutely love this quilt. You did beautifully. So often the patterns used makes it look to busy and not blend so well, or either the major floral is lost. I sure wish I owned this quilt. The recipients of this quilt will be very blessed to have this quilt. Thank you so much for sharing.

Interesting different block. Never saw this block before. I love floral watercolor fabrics too.
|
what a lovely quilt, love your fabrics
|
my thoughts on the 4patch is that it might have been easier to add the HST, if taking a closer look at each block, each one has different HST added. It is my understanding of the 4 patch, instead of a block.

It's lovely and certainly does look like a flower garden. You definitely need one of these for yourself.

thimblebug posted a link to the pattern today: http://www.quiltingboard.com/links-r...s-t262321.html

WOW! That is gorgeous .

Each corner of the block was a white square, so when all the blocks were put together, it made a white 4 patch center. Matching of the cross shaped block with out the white corners might have been difficult to inset. This way I also could rearrange the florals so that not all the same color were together and/or the color arrangement was pleasing to me.
