It was never actually "finished", but at some point it became a quilt, and last Sunday it became a gift.

Sara, bless you for sharing this MOST useful stitch!

Marcella that's just beautiful. They seem really happy to have it. It looks "finished" to me. :D I love the turkey tracks (?) stitch you used. So neat!

Thanks, you guys! That is the "turkey tracks" aka "crows foot" stitch that Sara Vincent taught us here

http://www.quiltingboard.com/posts/list/1753.page

back on the 6th of August. JUST in the nick of time! I needed to stabilize that big house and the big tree and that was the very stitch I needed.

The center block is 36 inches square.

SaraSewing 08-23-2007 02:29 PM

Wow, you used the "crows foot" stitch, and it worked in beautifully. Glad it was able to be utilized in such a fine manner. Remember that the crowsfoot can be aimed up, or down. It's a beautiful quilt. Sara

vicki reno 08-24-2007 04:25 AM

Great colors. You did a wonderful job. I have been maried a long long time, does that disqualify me from getting one just like it?

Marcella 08-24-2007 10:57 AM

Y'all, I can't thank you enough for all these kind comments. A girl can never get too much of this kind of encouragement! I'm excited to be getting back to our two-blocks-a-month & trying to catch up with Yvonne & Leslee on our blocks-a-week and other ongoing things. I was so wrapped up in making that wedding present I let everything else go. My house was wall-to-wall orts on Sunday. MUCH tidier now and I'm rarin' to go sew! So that's what I shall do. ...after a trip to the grocery store!

Thank you again, and much love from Marcella

(I guess a "virtual quilt" wouldn't keep you very warm in that snowy cabin, huh, Vicki? I do think that couples who have been married a "long, long time" deserve a marriage quilt! Amma, all this guy did was befriend me when I was the only girl commissioned officer on our oceanographic ship up in Alaska, waaay back in 1975. Now we go to baseball games together, and that is just fine with his new wife. I like her very much!)

vicki reno 08-24-2007 11:11 AM

No, Marcella, I want the real thing. I have been married a looong time and deserve it. That's my story and I'm sticking to it
