You're doing great!

I think I want to "shop" in the box in your basement where you found the new background! Wonderful that you had something that would work so beautifully.

Looks like the arcs are paper pieced. Is that the Eleanor Burns way of doing this pattern?

Looking forward to seeing the finished quilt.

Not paper pieced but using the quiltsmart method which is I think part of the Eleanor Burns concept.(?) Next time, if there is a next time, I will enlarge the rings and make a 16 inch block instead of a 12 inch. Now that I know the concept I don't have to use the quiltsmart interfacing. I can do my own thing.

Here is the quilt top. I am going to have to add some sort of a border as I just found out that they bought a new bed and it is a queen!!!!

My initial reaction is to use the corner fabrics as the border.

Any other suggestions are welcome!

sewnsewer2 03-25-2010 07:08 PM

This is absolutely GORGEOUS!! You did such a nice job and I still love these fabrics!

earthwalker 03-25-2010 07:13 PM

Stunning and your final background choice is definitely just perfect. Can't wait to see it finished.

Pinkiris 03-26-2010 02:03 PM

I love that quilt! I don't know what sort of borders you should do, but don't let them get too "heavy" looking. The quilt pattern is so airy and open, I'd hate to see the borders drag attention away from it.

I used the lighter green that was in the corner, 1.5 inches with a 4 inch darker border from the corners. I don't think it detracts from the quilt, I just had no other choice. They went and bought a queen size bed and didn't tell me! I will post when it is quilted and bound. Thanks for following along on my saga!!

This should be a beautiful quilt. Good luck on sewing the DWR, you'll need it. I've made 5 of them and swore I would never make another one.

Here is the finished weddding quilt for all of you who have followed along. I had my SIL quilt it for me and she did a wonderful job. Notice the "Love" in the border! The interior quilting motifs don't show up in the camera but they are lots of hearts!!

Thanks for all those who gave me support on this project and especially to sewnsewer2 who helped along!

Finished with 1 week to go, now for pillowcases to match!.

DebraK 05-20-2010 10:38 AM

you did a beautiful job.

Pinkiris 05-20-2010 10:52 AM

The quilt is just beautiful! I love the "non-traditional" choice of colors. Pillowcases will be a cinch after tackling this quilt!

Best wishes to the young couple!

RatherB Quilting 05-20-2010 06:09 PM

Oh wow! You did that all by applique??? Incredible! I want to do a wedding ring quilt for a friend, but I bite at doing curves and so haven't attempted....gosh...this opens a whole new realm of possibilities!!
Did you use a particular pattern? If you are willing to share your source, I would be grateful for the tip!
:)

Your wedding quilt is beautiful. My daughter says she wants a wedding ring quilt when she gets married. That may be just around the corner. I am a beginner quilter and have been looking at all the ways to make a wedding ring quilt. I have a question. When you say applique, do you mean each arch was hand stitched on?

Not hand stitched, but top stitched. Do you have the book Egg Money quilts. It shows the quiltsmart way of doing the double wedding ring.

Here is a site for the fusible interfacing.

I'd send you the instruction booklet and some extra panels I had left over but they are packed for moving and won't be unpacked until late July. If you still would like them at that time PM me and I'll send them out!!
