I have my late mom's wedding quilt. She was married in 1931 & her quilt was handmade by my gramma & great gramma & "bee" style quilted by them & the neighboring farm ladies. I don't know if the fabric is feed sack & wonder if there is a way to determine that once it's all together in a quilt[end quote]
Irish Heart, that's a beautiful quilt. What a treasure! |
This has been very inspiring to go through the pics of wedding quilts. I need to get on the ball, as I have recieved a request for a double wedding ring quilt from my daughter. The wedding is 2011.

The way we usually go about designing quilts for our kids is we pick a theme. In the case of this one, it was the mariner's compass. My daughter and son-in-law met while working for Holland America Cruise lines. So the center medallion had to be a mariner's compass! Then we auditioned fabric and designs to go with it. It's always fun working with her, and the kids love what we come up with. Thanks for all the compliments! :) |
Nice quilts. I love Sammy Jo's and I'll bet she did to. They all are really pretty.

My avatar is a wedding quilt I made for my daughter and her husband. My sister and my mom also helped. My sister has been quilting for 20 years and had never done a double wedding ring quilt. After helping me, she said she didn't think she would ever do one again!

They are all beautiful!!

Great medallion quilts! Hard to pick a favorite but I think your avatar quilt wins...love the light bright colors.

I love them all and my fav is the 2nd pic of the dark blues w/ the center star. Is that the Loyne Star?
|
The Mariner's compass quilt is just beautiful! All of them are beautiful but I'm partial to Mariner's compass's quilts.
|
Thank you for sharing your beautiful quilts. I can't think of a more special gift to give for a wedding!

They are beautiful.

These are all lovely quilts!!

The most requested pattern has been the double wedding ring. I've made about 7 so far and hope I never make another one. It's so time consuming and all those curves but yet it's a beautiful pattern.

Wedding quilt I just made for my niece who is getting married this Saturday, 9/4/10. She did request a leafy outdoorsy theme. She is a vet tech so I also added a few kitties and doggies.
I used greeting cards to print on fabric The label |
All are incredible, you did an awesome job.

Wow! All are so pretty! Nice of you to make heirlooms for others~

Here is another wedding quilt my sister and I just finished for our niece's wedding this past Sunday. It is a Judy Niemeyer pattern "Woven Blanket". We made it in the couple's wedding colors, which were Brown and "Pool". So much work, but also so much fun--and a great time spent with my sister! The newlyweds loved it--my niece even started crying when she saw it, she was so pleased and touched.

Wow! Another fantastic wedding quilt and one of my favorite color combination (brown and "pool" --or any blue/teal).

Awesome quilts. I am currently making two that are for weddings. Hope to post pictures of the one that is almost done soon.
