[quote] I have my late mom's wedding quilt. She was married in 1931 & her quilt was handmade by my gramma & great gramma & "bee" style quilted by them & the neighboring farm ladies. I don't know if the fabric is feed sack & wonder if there is a way to determine that once it's all together in a quilt[end quote]

Irish Heart, that's a beautiful quilt. What a treasure!

This has been very inspiring to go through the pics of wedding quilts. I need to get on the ball, as I have recieved a request for a double wedding ring quilt from my daughter. The wedding is 2011.

Maybe we should get together to encourage one another!

Nellebelles: those are absolutely gorgeous. Do you happen to have a pattern name for the middle one or did you design that...again...they are absolutely gorgeous!!!

I'm sorry that we don't have a pattern for that one--we did design it! It was a kind of build it as you go quilt. The mastermind behind that one was my sister though--she really should go into business!
The way we usually go about designing quilts for our kids is we pick a theme. In the case of this one, it was the mariner's compass. My daughter and son-in-law met while working for Holland America Cruise lines. So the center medallion had to be a mariner's compass! Then we auditioned fabric and designs to go with it.
It's always fun working with her, and the kids love what we come up with.
Thanks for all the compliments! :)

Nice quilts. I love Sammy Jo's and I'll bet she did to. They all are really pretty.

My avatar is a wedding quilt I made for my daughter and her husband. My sister and my mom also helped. My sister has been quilting for 20 years and had never done a double wedding ring quilt. After helping me, she said she didn't think she would ever do one again!
