I started this over the weekend. I'm thinking of adding a narrow white sashing around each block. What do you think?
Sorry the pictures are kind of blurry.

First group, these are stacked up. I have a total of 25 blocks so far.

I think white would be pretty. I'm also jealous that you just started it over the weekend and have so much to show for it!

joeyoz 09-08-2009 12:09 PM

Look at you go girl. I think the white sashing would look great. Keep us posted with pictures. :) :)

mytwopals 09-08-2009 12:12 PM

I could definitely see a 1" sashing in white, then a larger 3-4" white border all around.

Jim's Gem 09-08-2009 12:27 PM

I thinks a white sashing would complement it nicely!

lfw045 09-08-2009 01:09 PM

I see a gorgeous scrappy D9P!

Knot Sew 09-08-2009 01:33 PM

I vote for the white sashing also. Nice job so far! I am sure it is going to be an awesome quilt.

I totally agree.

Mousie 09-08-2009 03:14 PM

woo hoo, white it is :D

Shemjo 09-08-2009 03:56 PM

White would look nice. I can also see a D9P there!

sewnsewer2 09-08-2009 03:59 PM

I agree, I think the white will look great!

Ms Grace 09-08-2009 06:16 PM

Thanks for helping me decide. It will have 1" sashings between the blocks and a 3" white border. Now I think I'll choose one of the fabrics to make the binding....but which one? I like them all.

Shemjo 09-08-2009 06:31 PM

I would use a scrappy binding if you like them all! Especially fetching when it is a bias binding!

Great idea! I didn't think of that. Thanks so much. :D

I can't help thinking how wonderful these would be set on point with your white or even black. The white will make it look like the center is hollow.

Very pretty blocks. Nice and cheery.

earthwalker 09-08-2009 07:58 PM

Such "happy colours" white will look stunning....I am always awed about how much can be achieved by some in such a short space of time!

SharonC 09-08-2009 08:26 PM

I love your scrappy looking blocks and the white sashing with a wider white border would look absolutely stunning.

burnsk 09-08-2009 09:16 PM

I know I'll probably be in the minority here but because of all the colors I could also see a red sashing to pull out all the red in the squares. JMHO. I love color. Either way, it will be a beautiful quilt. Love all the different fabrics.

k3n 09-09-2009 01:28 AM

Red would be funky but white would give a more traditional look and I'm a trad girl! :D And I love Shemjo's idea of a scrappy binding. Can't wait to see this done, probably by next weekend the rate you're going! :D

Quilt4u 09-09-2009 01:35 AM

Love the idea of the white .And love your blocks. Did you ever think of perie points instead of binding.

thismomquilts 09-09-2009 03:41 AM

white would be nice - love the colors, patterns in the material!!

Ninnie 09-09-2009 04:40 AM

White will set it off nicely I think!

Justquilting 09-09-2009 04:49 AM

White would pull it all together!!
I agree on a scrappy binding.

Me too :D

dvseals 09-09-2009 10:42 AM

Me 3 :)

mytwopals 09-09-2009 11:02 AM

For this quilt, I might go with prairie points made from each of the scrappy fabrics. But a scrappy binding would look nice, too.

Lisa T 09-09-2009 11:48 AM

Your squares are really cute!! I like the idea of the white sashing, but I would probably go with a wider one- like 2 inches, or even the same size as one of the squares in the nine-patch. (I like a lot of white.) Whichever way you do it, it will be cute because your fabric is so pretty.

Your squares made me think of this quilt:
http://redpepperquilts.blogspot.com/...d-project.html

It's kind of the same, but uses "reverse" blocks, too.

I found one that looks like I was trying to explain- with the sashing the same size as the squares in the 9-patch.

Yes, I love it. :)
My squares are 2 1/2"

alaskasunshine 09-09-2009 08:02 PM

Oooh a D9 patch that would be pretty too.

I love that Lisa! And I really like the border of squares - that would look really cool if you had enough fabric MsGrace. :D

Bevanger 09-10-2009 04:22 AM

cool. i'm playing with 9 patches too

GailG 09-10-2009 04:26 AM

I kinda like the look of the orange underneath. It unifies the blocks. Perhaps the orange with a little of the white.

Edit: OOPS, forgot to say how much I love your blocks. I envy you for being able to do a scrappy. The blocks ar  e great.

mrsjdt 09-10-2009 08:03 AM

It's great...all "of you" on this site make such beautiful quilts----it's SO intimidating!

JJean 09-10-2009 08:56 AM

I love your quilt. Thanks for sharing.
