My husband and I went to the beach with our Homemade Lemonaide and one of my quilts that is just a wee too small for my queen bed. My husband says "Are you sure we said use this?" Yah...that is why I made it. Too be used....it was perfect and so pretty on the beach. We did get many looks from beach goers...LOL...I felt like saying its ok...I made it not my grandmother.

I like your Lemonaide Jar! I will be using a quilt for my beach trip! It is better than little beach towels. And they shake sand off nicely.
Beautiful quilt and I'm sure it got attention! Good use of it. The beach looks nice, too!
Love your quilt, great that it is getting used.
I certainly looks like it belongs on the beach. Enjoy!
Wow thats awesome!! I am one of those that would be scared to do that... But why the heck not!!?? I made a quilt for my dogs to lie on, why not use one for the beach!?
beautifull quilt, beautifull day. glad I'm not the only one who lets there quilts get on the ground, in the dirt, sand and or mud, My son in law says a quilt isn't broken in until it has a grass or mud stain on it! Thats when you know it's well loved! LOL Believe me on there ranch with 3 kids plus all the friends and neighbor kids all my quilts are well loved, and well broken in! LOL
Wow, beautiful beach day. LOL, A "quilter" would have done more then look. They probably would have stopped to admire and talk. Pretty quilt.
Great idea ... quilts are to be USED! I'll bet they were jealous...
PS The lemonade looks good. |
A beautiful quilt and the beach, could it get any better..... hmmm..... maybe a lobster roll and Tim McGraw.....
Neat! Pretty quilt too :)
I bet everyone was looking because it was such a beautiful picture!
Beautiful quilt! I would have had a shocked look on my face.......way to beautiful to be on sand! But you are right to use it.
I would have put it on some drier sand, but hey it is your quilt and you do whatever you please with it my friend! It is very pretty!
I'm cringing at the thought of it laying in salty sand! lol BUT, as you say, it was made to be used, not just to look at! It's very pretty.
It looks like it belongs on the beach. It's beautiful and it looks great with your lemonade!
wow you are brave
Your beautiful quilt looks perfect on the beach!
I love seeing quilts being used!!! All of our quilts get used to the max. Love the canning jar with lemonade. It's so pretty. Homemade lemonade is the best!!!
Love your beach quilt! Hope you had a wonderful time at the beach ... looks inviting!
Looks like my kind of day!
Looks like a great day for the beach - quilt & lemonaide are the perfect touch!
Probably also because it was so nice and big...people probably thought--you were brave and yet what a good idea--sand does come out nicely in the wash, anyway.
Good for you. !!!!! I'm not that courageous ... Not yet anyway but you give me inspiration!!
What was nice is tha the sand does not cling to it. I just threw it in the washer and dyer and looks great...the backing is white and it looks fine...My husband now says that is the beach blanket....I most likely would not put it on the grass outdoors since it is white and I do not want grass stains. Hmmm....I will have to make a scrappy for the backyard.

It deserves several looks. Great picture..
You did what? You took that beautiful quilt to the beach? Actually, if it felt right to you, and if that is what you made it for, good for you that you made a bright spot on the beach where you could relax and enjoy your lemonade. :)

Love both the quilt & the lemon aid. |
What a beautiful picture. Where are you? Beautiful quilt too. I agree, quilts are made to be used.
that is right -they are made to be used.Art quilts are wonderful but-I make nice functional quilts.I love quilts they are all over my home.I sleep between 2 quilts.Everyone in the family has multiple quilts and we all use them. Yours is a beautiful quilts.
I can't wait to see what kind of looks I get when I use the stash of vintage Lilly Pulitzer squares my friend gave me for a picnic blanket!
Wow, a pretty quilt, pretty beach, and the lemonade looks great! What else is there?! LOL!
Love your photo and story. Isn't it amazing how well your lovely quilt goes with that homemade lemonade?!
It's something they'll remember don't you think?? Nice quilt.
We are less than 2 hours from the beach and haven't been there in a couple of years! Time to plan a trip. I'm not sure I'd put a quilt as pretty as yours down on our beaches because there's a chance of it picking up tar, but it's an inspiration to see, in any case. Thanks for sharing the picture.
Here's a hint for anyone who hasn't experience beach tar: Take baby oil. It does a great job of removing it from your feet. |
toooo funny lolol
I took a handmade quilt to the beach once and never could get the sand out of the seams! Never did it again, though I HAVE taken them to the pool -on the grass, not sand!
What a great idea. I bet you did get some wishful looks.
Depending on what part of the country you are in, the lookers may have thought the lemonade was good old fashioned moonshine lol. In my neck of the woods mason jars =moonshine lol. Beautiful photo and beautiful quilt looks like something out of a country living magazine :)
