I'll be giving this to my daughter's horse riding teacher. She's been a family friend and mentor to our daughter for 5 years and has about 10 horses. Her birthday is coming up and I hope she likes it.

Beautiful!! I have to ask...what are the different looking scissors in the picture? I saw some of those at the quilt show and wondered what they were for.

katied772 10-12-2010 05:08 PM

If she doesn't like it, she has serious issues. It's wonderful. Is it an Irish Chain?

earthwalker 10-12-2010 05:10 PM

She will love it...it is horse themed without being over-the-top. Love how you've quilted it.

They're applique scissors made by Gingher. I use them for cutting threads during machine embroidering too. I love them.

Beautiful Quilt! But a question which will probably sound dumb!! What exactly is stippling? I am not new to quilting but have only attepted quilting on my own and with just reading. This site has really given me a wealth of information.

Stippling is the all-over machine quilting that is great for a beginner to learn. You just go where ever you want and just try not to cross over any of the previous quilting....just remember "there are no rules in quilting" so if you cross over any previous it is just fine! It can also be called "meandering".

I own horses and would be thrilled if I had that to hang on my wall!

Did you do this free hand on the machine or did yu make it with a pencil. It is the greatest. I sure wish I could do it?
