Oh I love it. Red is my favorite and you do such an excellent job Patrice. Only hope I can do half as well as you.

Outstanding Patrice!! And really, you wanted the quilt to be nice and warm to wrap around her shoulders. That way, it was like a hug from you :):)

And here was I thinking Patrice was being a 'wet blanket' about xmas!!!

Wow what a beauty, well done for finishing it in the 'nick' of time

the block is Indianapolis, dating from 1916 or earlier. it's a bit tricky because it has y-seams at two stages of assembly, and in the last go-round, several seams come together at the joint of a y. BUT ... it isn't as tricky as it looks - IF you remember to not sew all the way to the edges of patches that will join at a y. (guess who forgot and had to reverse-engineer about half her blocks. )

i found the block in a back issue of Quilters Newsletter Magazine (Jan-Feb 1995). i bought a CD (QNM Block Factory) last year that has the patterns from issues published between 1995 and 2000. (If they've put out a CD with issues from later years, i haven't been able to find it.)

it's also included in Barbara Brackman's Encyclopedia of Pieced Quilt Patterns and the Block Base software you can get to go with the encyclopedia.

i haven't found any links to totally free patterns for it, but there has to be one somewhere. :?

Beautiful.

My guess would be that she wanted to dry it right away so that she could snuggled up with it. :)
