Well, look at that. You did a perfectly wonderful job. Very pretty quilt too, I might add.

Izy, I love the bright wonderful colors you used. And your free motion is perfect.

How old is your "Ryan"? Mine was 26 in December. I also have an "Erin". I call them my little leprechauns!

My 'Ryan' will be 22 in April :D When he was born 1987, his name had only just become 'fashionable' in the UK, as a first name and his Great grandmother was appaulled and wanted me to use his middle name of James  ......we didn't  :D :D

It was his Girlfriend who he lives with you fell in love with my first crumb quilt that begged me to make them one in Hot Pink and black

Cathie.....Sasha seems to have a sixth sense about my quilts, I think she knows how much love I pour into them, and wants to share it :D She is a very loving dog :D

We had the same situation with Ryan... His second name is Matthew and Dad said, "Now THAT's a name!"

When Erin was born he HATED her name. Called her "Herin" But she had good company... my niece Heather, was "Edder". Gotta love those Newfoundland accents!

Shemjo 01-28-2009 08:27 PM

Oh, Izy, what a beautiful quilt! You will be able to see your goofs, but anyone else will think you planned it! It is gorgeous and I love your Sasha! What a great loving critic! Love the little "funs" you have with the I spy patches. Isn't fabric fun!

Izy 01-29-2009 12:57 AM

Sharon, thanks for your enthusiasm....I couldn't agree with you more on fabric being fun, due to fabric being so scarce here in Spain, all my friends on the quiltingboard helped me and my guild out by donating lots of fabric to us last year. It was an amazing show of friendship and I was able to make this quilt using alot of the brights I snaffled :D The hot pink sashings were a cotton dress I got from the charity shop!!

We have a fantastic group of quilters on this Board, my life has been enhanced so much by meeting everyone here :D :D :D

Everytime one of you gals tells of your difficulty in getting fabrics, I can't help but be thankful and appreciative for our resources here. Even though some of us have to travel miles to acquire our fabrics, we still know that it's there for us. We're down to one LQS within a 30-mile radius, but at least we have that. I know some of you are travelling much further.

I didn't know about the sharing of our fabrics here with our sisters across the water. I think that's what love of neighbor is all about -- sharing. I hope we do more of it.

Not having fabrics so readily available makes you very resourceful, unfortunately we only have one charity shop where I search for anything that can be used, but the problem now is our guild is growing, we have over 30 members, so guess who has stopped telling everyone about visiting the charity shop

Here's a link to the original topic about the fabric sharing :D

I only have a Janome 9000 domestic...but it is set down in it's table which definitely helps. On this quilt I quilted in in two halves across the diagonal for ease then joined and quilted down the central strip :D

Beautiful Izy!
Sasha is so cute!

Izy 02-05-2009 01:35 AM

Shemjo 02-05-2009 08:24 AM

Izy, I,too, have a Janome 9000 set in a table. I have tried some machine quilting, straight line in the ditch stuff with my walking foot. I am taking a class this Saturday to help me become more adventurous! I love your work!

k3n 02-05-2009 08:55 AM

Have PMd you, Izy!

That is such a cute quilt. And your stippling looks great! I'm jealous. Maybe the secret is to stop practicing so much and just go for it. I have a quilt that I pieced last winter that I'm not crazy about. I think I'm just going to give it a try and quilt it. You give me hope!

Rox17 02-05-2009 09:18 AM

PS - the quilt inspector is adorable. I have one at my house too. But my quilt inspector likes to chew fabric so I have to keep him away from my quilts.

peel 02-05-2009 09:37 AM

wow! Thanks for the info.
I'm about to quilt an Irish chain, queen size, on my home Viking. For the first time I'm going to do it in pieces also. First the entire center and then add the borders. My machine is also set into a table. Hope I have as good luck as you did.

thanks again,
peel

Izy 02-05-2009 06:12 PM

Thanks everyone for your lovely comments again :D

Peel and Rox17, you just have to go for it...and trust me there are LOTS of bloopers on this quilt..BUT I have to say, you don't notice them unless you get your nose about 6" away from the quilt...now that is not a normal viewing position is it???

chickadeee55 02-21-2011 11:28 AM

TootieAnn 02-21-2011 11:38 AM

You did great! I like your "quilt inspector" too. Very cute.

[quote=Izy]Here is my crazy/crumb quilt that will go to my son and his girlfriend for christmas....AND I went for it..and free motioned, what fun!! It only took two afternoons to do the meandering and another hour to do the border in a smaller stipple :D

There are a few 'hiccups' where panic set in when I realised I was getting too close to another line of stitching, but what the heck, it's my first real attempt and only my 4th quilt (the biggest!!), and as you will see it has been 'approved' by the quilt inspector!! :D

Is that the quilt inspectors cute "widdle head" we see on left side of the bed? :D Love that quilt!

It's been so long since I created this topic, I just had to go back through the pictures to see...and YES that is Sasha peaking from the side..BUT if you scroll down through the first page, you will see additional closeups of the blocks AND Sasha at her best, sprawled all over the quilt LOL!!

Thanks for your lovely comments

Haha..I never do things by half... BUT I did quilt it in two halves diagonally!! It's been three years since I made this quilt, but it is enjoying a revival due to recent interest in my crumb block tutorial which is under the Tutorial section if anyone would like to download it

That is so gorgeous.

Good for you. You can cross over. No one look anyway. We look at the over all beautiful appearance of this quilt, how wonderful the colors are and just how stunning it looks. If anyone looks closer, ignore it. They may be trying to find out how you did that wonderful quilting so they can try it.

Thanks Deb, it's been 2.5 years since I quilted this one, at the time I was so scared of making a mess of it!! I am MUCH more relaxed about the whole thing now I am pleased to day
