MarthaT 12-11-2012 07:14 AM

My daughter thinks I need to make her super-energetic Jack-Rat Terrior a coat. A friend traced one of her dogs coats for me to use as a pattern, but it is too small and that hyper, squirmy, little thing will not hold still enough for me to even get any measurements. Anyone know a good source for patterns?

Lady Jane 12-11-2012 07:14 AM

Look at that Lil ham, he seems to be quite happy with his new coat!!!

GramaLaura 12-11-2012 07:22 AM

Fran Foss 12-11-2012 07:55 AM

That is so cute. My daughter has a little black pom, she would look so cute in that. Did you just make up the pattern yourself?
Fran

My furbabies love their clothes. My Maltese, Chloe, runs to their wardrobe when she hears me pick up the car keys. She knows keys mean car, which means a trip out into the real world. Yours looks like he knows he's in high fashion duds! Great job.

llong0233 12-11-2012 08:33 AM

Kudos to your family for adopting a 14 year old animal. Looks like he found a wonderful home. And my, does he ever look handsome in he Christmas coat. He's beautifully groomed and looks quite content.

He does look handsome in this coat and Toby is a very cute little man. He should be nice and warm this winter!!!

PolkaBabe 12-11-2012 01:18 PM

A really cool looking coat for a handsome fellow.

maryellen2u 12-11-2012 02:11 PM

I love it! I want one for my Lucy. At least she would not have the manhood problem. I wonder if I could make one as cute as yours.

onaemtnest 12-11-2012 02:29 PM

Toby 'knows' just how handsome he is, doesn't he? :0) Our two dogs and two cats are rescues. I've convinced myself that rescues show extra gratitude for being given a forever home.

Love the coat what a fortunate Toby to have you for his forever home!

nclauri 12-11-2012 03:07 PM

OMG! This is so cute and he is such a good model!

gramquilter2 12-11-2012 04:22 PM

First of all I LOVE your pom, TobyBean. We have a pom that is the same sable color that yours is, she is the best princess around! The jacket you made him is so cute. I guess it's time I try to make one.

sewdamncute 12-11-2012 05:13 PM

Charming 12-11-2012 05:17 PM

Oh Lordy, sew_Tracy - that is FUNNY! My little Shih Tzus LOVE to dress up and prance around like they own the world. The bigger dog just doesn't quite get it at all. But it's so funny to watch all their reactions, isn't it?

nannyrick 12-11-2012 05:27 PM

Just too cute!! Thanks for sharing.

sewnsewer2 12-11-2012 05:44 PM

This is so adorable. I have 3 ShihTzu's I'd love to make for. Can you tell me where you got your pattern?

auntpiggylpn 12-12-2012 09:12 AM

Thanks everyone for your thoughtful words and gushing over my Toby Bean! He eats up the attention! If anyone is interested in the pattern, please PM me. I have been given the wonderful opportunity to sell the pattern in a quilt shop so I am in the process of drawing up the pattern and instructions.

brenda21 12-12-2012 09:24 AM

nellybelle 12-12-2012 09:25 AM

I have almost all of my Christmas sewing finished and decided I had time to play a little bit. I decided to make Toby a Christmas coat that he can wear when he goes to Grammy's on Christmas. I fussy cut some 2 1/2" squares from holiday fabrics, sewed them together and then laid my pattern on my "created" fabric and cut it out. Before I cut out the coat, I made a "quilt" sandwich using 1 layer of W&N and the green striped backing fabric and then cross hatched quilted it. I think he looks very handsome!

so cute!!! great job.
