What all the stylish Pomeranians are wearing this holiday season

This is my Toby Bean. We adopted him last March from a rescue. He is 14 yo and just a spit fire! (He definately has Pom-a-tude!) I have almost all of my Christmas sewing finished and decided I had time to play a little bit. I decided to make Toby a Christmas coat that he can wear when he goes to Grammy's on Christmas. I fussy cut some 2 1/2" squares from holiday fabrics, sewed them together and then laid my pattern on my "created" fabric and cut it out. Before I cut out the coat, I made a "quilt" sandwich using 1 layer of W&N and the green striped backing fabric and then cross hatched quilted it. I think he looks very handsome!

My MIL bought a similiar coat for her Cavalier King Charles and I just traced around it to make my own pattern. I had made Toby another coat out of this pattern and I had to adjust the length as Windsor is longer than Toby. Toby wasn't too crazy about the belly strap touching his little manhood!

sew_Tracy 12-09-2012 05:29 PM

He looks happy, I think my animals would stalk and attack me

irishrose 12-09-2012 05:31 PM

He's stylin'! Toby looks great and so does the coat.

purplecat 12-09-2012 07:55 PM

How adorable!

What a lovely coat and beautiful dog. Thank you for adopting a 14 year old dog from the shelter. Most people would just pass by an animal that old. I hope he gives you many more years of fun and love. I am currently fostering a white, long haired deaf cat that had been returned to the animal shelter where I volunteer. She is adjusting nicely to my other felines at home and I hope to officially adopt her later this week.

My furry herd which includes 5 cats: Scooter, Gertie, Clementine, Lily Pie and Jack and 3 dogs: BG, Cooper and Toby applaud you for taking in that kitty! Each member of my herd is from the shelter or a rescue. Thank you for loving a less than perfect animal! Cooper is a 4 yo Shepherd who was heartworm positive and before adopting Toby, I specifically searched shelters and rescues for a senior male pom. I had to drive 3 hours each way (twice!) but he is soooo worth it!

Now that is too cute, not only the dog, but he/she looks great in the Christmas jacket!

dungeonquilter 12-10-2012 09:51 AM

I have been asked to make one (or more) for a yellow lab. She already has one, so I will trace around it for my pattern and make any adjustments that are needed. It must be less expensive to make one than buy one. The prices for large dog coats just seem outrageous.

wanttobe 12-10-2012 09:54 AM

Very cute coat.

Mariposa 12-10-2012 09:58 AM

Cute coat for Toby! :)

SouthPStitches 12-10-2012 01:19 PM

Toby Bean is really stylin' in his quilted coat. How wonderful that you adopted him at 14!

Peggy Jeanne 12-10-2012 01:55 PM

I had a Pom when I was little, he looked just like Toby Bean. Thank you for the picture!

Debbie B 12-10-2012 02:12 PM

You should do a tutorial on the board. Your dog is so pretty. Love the coat.

Actually he does get chilled. We keep his fur shorter. Plus the quilted coat is another way to show off MY quilty side!:p

Amythyst02 12-11-2012 04:04 AM

That is just too cute.

imnywoman 12-11-2012 04:17 AM
