What is Black & White & Red all over?

The quilt I made for my son for his 30th birthday! He loves his guitars as much as we all love our fabric! He has 12 of them now and one of them is a red one which inspired my design. I found the border fabric on clearance at a quilt shop a year ago and just knew what I wanted it for. It was much less time consuming using it rather than doing the strip piecing for the keyboard border. I used my embroidery machine for the designs in the middle section and I raw-edge appliqued the guitar. The design is an altered version of a Maple Island quilt I saw. I am giving him a surprise party on the 3rd of Nov and will give it to him then. I hope he likes it! I am going to tell him that, if he really does not like it, he will not hurt my feelings if he just wants me to keep it! My friend actually fell in love with this quilt and offered me 150.00 to make her one. As flattering as that is, I had to decline. Too many hours spent and I need to move on to my next adventure.
Hope you enjoy.

This is really awesome! The quilt is beautiful! In case you need inspiration for his 31st b-day, I am going to try and post a link to our local quilt shop. The owners also make the Fasturn tool which is used for turning tubes of every conceivable size. Dan, one of the owners created the guitar pattern, and the sample hangs in the store. If the link works, just click on patterns. http://fasturn.net/product.php?produ...cat=255&page=1

Fantabulous, (my word not in a dictionary yet). I totally understand the musical instruments! I have 18 banjos, guitars and ukuleles, in my living room along with a piano, keyboard and a three manual organ.
