What color binding should I use?

I'm almost finished on this quilt. I need to applique the rest of the oak leaves/vines/acorns on one side and then embroider stems from the vines to the acorns. Hopefully will get that finished this week. Then I can quilt it. I was going to bind in dark red, but my husband says to go with blue or green. What do you think?

leakus 02-02-2013 01:22 PM

I would use red. Beautiful quilt!

sassy granny 02-02-2013 01:22 PM

I'm a red person. I just love the color and it looks like it would go better with all the other colors in your quilt.
BTW, that is a lovely quilt.

How about using scraps of red and blues from the top!
peace

quiltingme 02-02-2013 01:41 PM

Gorgeous quilt - bind it in the RED RED RED - it will work wonderfully well, IMO.

Sarint 02-02-2013 01:50 PM

Although it would be fine with blue or green, I also vote RED. It will really make it pop!

ArtsyOne 02-02-2013 01:57 PM

What a beautiful job you did! I would bind in dark blue if you truly don't care either way. Of course I've found myself binding almost everything in dark blue recently.

cleodaisy 02-02-2013 02:07 PM

What a beautiful quilt!!!!! Red for me too.

beautiful quilt, I would use red or blue

Tartan 02-02-2013 02:44 PM

Red would look nice but if green or blue matched my room better, I wold use one of those.

skowron5 02-02-2013 02:48 PM

Beautiful quilt. I would use either red or blue

Crqltr 02-02-2013 02:55 PM

really pretty! With so many colors in the quilt I think you could go with any of them.

QuiltnNan 02-02-2013 02:55 PM

red or blue would look good. or you can do a combo of both.

tulip43 02-02-2013 03:01 PM

I agree with the rest of the quilters, red or blue. It sure is one beautiful quilt, love your applique

tinker 02-02-2013 03:02 PM

I agree with Tartan, any color in the quilt(except A lighter color)

DebbE 02-02-2013 04:32 PM

Absolutely red - the top screams red. I can see why your DH said green or blue (predominant colors in the center). But a quilter would see immediately that it should be red. What a lovely job you did! Gorgeous!

Central Ohio Quilter 02-02-2013 04:49 PM

I would go with blue, although the red would look great too!

Diane007 02-02-2013 04:51 PM

red..........................

bjchad 02-02-2013 04:57 PM

I'm going to disagree and say I think you should use the color that is the stems of the appliqué. Just my feeling.

QM 02-02-2013 05:00 PM

red, (my fav) blue or black.

Justquilting 02-02-2013 05:08 PM

Beautiful quilt...please take another picture when it's done. Would love to see it finished.

patsynel 02-02-2013 05:11 PM

It is a beautiful quilt. I would bind with the blue or red. Not much help, sorry.

DogHouseMom 02-02-2013 05:20 PM

What color is your backing going to be? Since red, blue or green would go equally as well ... consider the flip side.

If you haven't decided on the back and are waiting to decide on the binding then choose the back accordingly ... I say red :)

That is a beautiful quilt!!

mucky 02-02-2013 05:32 PM

Any would work. Use the one that marches your room the best. But my eye does go to the blue.

Sibi 02-02-2013 05:51 PM

I think Red would look great! Beautiful quilt!!!

Peggy Jeanne 02-02-2013 06:31 PM

It is wonderful, any deep color would do!

Jingle 02-02-2013 06:33 PM

All I know is, it is a gorgeous quilt.

kathyd 02-02-2013 06:40 PM

Love the quilt. Great balance of colors. Personally I like the idea of red, would continue the warm feeling of the quilt.

fxsts93kf 02-02-2013 07:21 PM

Wow Deb, I knew it was going to be gorgeous! I can't wait to see it finished! You've got my vote for red(tell R sorry) depending on the color of your backing.

Tweety2911 02-02-2013 07:27 PM

Gorgeous quilt....I vote for red also!

Jvan228 02-02-2013 09:39 PM

I would use the rust color that is in the leaves.

deanneellen 02-02-2013 09:46 PM

Beautiful quilt! I would go with whatever binding goes with your bedroom. Any of the colors will work.

Woodie 02-02-2013 10:39 PM

Green would go pretty too.

I agree here. Gorgeous quilt! Great job.

busy fingers 02-02-2013 11:35 PM

It will be a gorgeous quilt whichever of those colours you choose.

ailene 02-03-2013 12:22 AM

I love the blues and dark blue would pull those colors out even more, but red would be great also. Beautiful work!

Shazeeda 02-03-2013 02:13 AM

I vote RED to match the center of your log cabins.
That's a gorgeous quilt!

Hi Kelly, It seems that red has the big vote on the board. Randy thought that I should use the green to match the vines. My backing is just a beige color. Hopefully we can get together soon for shopping or quilting. Debbie

northern lass 02-03-2013 04:47 AM

Definitely RED.

goodluna 02-03-2013 06:23 AM
