I am getting ready to quilt this Lucky Stars. It will be my second on my LA. I just can't decide if I want to use my light tan or light blue thread on top.

Both are Signature thread. The tan is called Antique Satin and the pale blue is called Ocean Mist.

Both look great with it, but obviously I can only choose one.

PLEASE help! :) I am loading it on the frame this morning.

mamaw 03-29-2011 07:04 AM

I vote for blue!

erstan947 03-29-2011 07:04 AM

I love the color of blue but would probably choose the tan:)

Bottle Blonde 03-29-2011 07:05 AM

blue!

MTS 03-29-2011 07:06 AM

Blue.
There is just too much tan in this world already.

gollytwo 03-29-2011 07:07 AM

I don't think it'll matter - will look good with either

emerald46 03-29-2011 07:08 AM

I don't care! I love those colors in your quilt..just beautiful!

knlsmith 03-29-2011 07:09 AM

my hubby said blue, too. I was leaning that way because it will also blend in with the greens. My bottom thread is the tan because the back is a tan print.

still not decided 100%.... keep em coming

ONE MORE QUESTION:

I want to echo the stars, and thinking about doing a loopy meander around the block borders?

I did feathers on the last one, and it came out really good, but i want this one to be softer.

Sadiemae 03-29-2011 07:32 AM

It depends how much you want the quilting to stand out. The blue will stand out more and the tan will blend in more.
I think your quilting ideas sound beautiful!

Mariposa 03-29-2011 07:36 AM

I vote for the blue!

knlsmith 03-29-2011 08:08 AM

Blue it is. Thanks Everyone!!

BUT I can't decide what to do after I echo the star.. hmmm.... maybe it will come to me

Murphy 03-29-2011 08:24 AM

Ocean mist is my vote

redturtle 03-29-2011 08:25 AM

wow...id do the opposite...tan on front blue on back...

obviously the blue would stand out on the back but i think the tan would stand out on the front because...

there is a lot of blue/browns for it to pop on...it would blend in with the green/tan fabric of course...

but im just a little quarky..lol

katier825 03-29-2011 08:34 AM

I vote for the pale blue! Loopy meander would look nice in the border rectangles. Be sure to share when you are done! I love Lucky Stars quilts. I think I've made 6 of them so far. :)

PS Stitcher 03-29-2011 08:42 AM

First off....BEAUTIFUL quilt! I just love the colors.

I would vote for the blue!!

Maia B 03-29-2011 08:51 AM

Both good choices for this beautiful top, but I vote tan thread on top to make the star block backgrounds recede and the stars pop. Be sure to post once the quilting is done!

jdiane318 03-29-2011 08:52 AM

Could you possibly find a varigated that would encompass all the colors and shades? Might be worth the time to check, would really make your colors and design pop. Just a thought.

Lindsey 03-29-2011 08:55 AM

i take the tan..

cwo3112 03-29-2011 01:17 PM

I like the tan also.

QuiltnNan 03-29-2011 01:22 PM

I vote for tan. But I'm a bit color challenged, always going for the safe choice.

xsquilter 03-29-2011 01:30 PM

Oh wow! I'm sitting on the fence...both are fantastic! I would love to see it quilted, it's a beautiful quilt!

Tan, no blue, no tan, no blue.........

Lilrain 03-29-2011 01:52 PM

I know everyone else is going for the blue, but I personally think the other is better, and that you wouold like the overall look of it. The neutralness of it will enhance the quilt. A longarmer friend of mine uses a lot of taupe of multicolored quilts and everyone is happy with the results. i know yours is not taupe thread, but close enough. I think it will look better on both colors in your quilt

Marcia D 03-29-2011 01:53 PM

I vote for tan. Very pretty job!

Mae 03-29-2011 01:57 PM

My heart says blue because I like blue. But to be practical, you would need to use the one that blends best with your bobbin thread unless your machine is perfectly tensioned so the bobbin thread would not show on the top.

Not an expert.

Jingle 03-29-2011 02:01 PM

I would choose tan, as it will go with all the colors the best. Just me.

Lilrain 03-29-2011 02:08 PM

How strange is this? A whole bunch of people voted for blue and then sduddenly the tides changed and lots of people voting for tan.......

Michellesews 03-29-2011 02:11 PM

It will not matter, either of those colors will blend in perfectly. Use the blue and save the tan for projects that must have tan.
Just my humble opinion.

thequilteddove 03-29-2011 02:26 PM

i vote blue

RUSewing 03-29-2011 03:39 PM

What a beautiful quilt! I vote for blue with loopy meandering.

Antdebby1 03-29-2011 03:44 PM

Your quilt is beautiful and I vote for tan!

hperttula123 03-29-2011 03:59 PM

I say blue!!! I would put swirls or something with circles in it for the quilting....or feathers!!!! I love feathers. :)

lydialee 03-29-2011 04:11 PM

I think that the brown would look really nice.

knlsmith 03-29-2011 04:22 PM

Doing blue. I did feathers on the first one. I want this one to be softer, so less quilting. It is going really wellm. Had to get a little help from Stella Rosa LOL (wine)

ilovetosew 03-29-2011 04:44 PM

Both go, but I like the brown better.
Janie

Thanks a Bunch!

snicker dee 03-29-2011 11:01 PM

I love both but would pick the blue. OR you could use blue on top and the brown for under side. The lady who LA's for me does that all the time (Different color for top and back) and it looks really nice

Kitsapquilter 03-29-2011 11:07 PM

I think if I were choosing I would use the blue. But I don't think you would go wrong with either one!! Very pretty quilt.

Baloonatic 03-30-2011 06:36 AM
