Go ahead and look for the green fabric. I was able to match a yellow to an old quilt top to square it up. You can't even see any difference. It was a perfect match 50 years after the quilt was originally pieced. I found it at JoAnn's. Your fabrics look like they are feed sack prints. My vote is for leaving the wheels intact. Think of the hours the sewer put into stitching them together. It will be beautiful whatever you decide.

Susan on Sunrise Quilt Studio (YouTube) works with vintage quilts. She found a "grunge" for a border that was almost a perfect match to her background fabric.

If you are interested in vintage quilt tops and what to do with them or how to quilt them, watch her YouTube's. She explains what she is doing, draws out different ideas. She shows the quilting while working on the quilt and the finished product. I enjoy these YouTube's and I like Susan's telling you what her thinking process is as she goes. Her work is very nice, not difficult and looks wonderful.

I would love to see them as fans. They would look great.

I think they would be easier to work with and would look really nice in a setting like this https://www.quiltingboard.com/fbimag...d=329501&e=jpg As for background colour, I think I would stay wit something light. Lucky you! Oh and love the camper!

I am in love with the example quilt you posted. who is it made by?

Great find. Good luck with what you decide.

curtains with the fans as the border. I would look scalloped

I think I would leave the wheels alone, seems like that keeps the whole antique part of it, use the fans as the center or in the border, either way would look great.

First, I love your camper. I would sew them together as a circle and make pillows or use them as cornerstones with your own block in the center making a wall hanging or pillows. FYI if your concerned about the hand stitched seams take some lightweight fusible interfacing and cut into strips to iron over the seams. I’ve done this many times when I know the seam is going to get a lot of stress.

My goodness, I love the fans, a little less the wheels, the fabrics are lovely, I would do a traditional fan quilts with a white or off white sash

Thank you, Ellen, I'll do that!
