I would certainly continue the cream squares in the first border. Without them it doesn't look cohesive to me. I agree with ArtsyOne

I would add a solid border with the corner stones, then add your cream 2" border and then another border of a color in your quilt to pull it together.

Are you adding the outside sashing and a border or just a border? If the border is going to be a different color than the outside sashing, yes add the coins. If the border is the same color as the sashing, no, the coins will stick out and pull the eye to them.
Finish the sashing around the outside with the coins and add the border only if it is a different color. If just a border, then don't add the coins. This quilt is very nice. I like the stars. peace |
