I have these two fabrics and I don't know what kind of quilt to make with them.
The first one looks and feels like fleece but the back side is a weave of some kind, so it needs to be covered. The second one (Ducks) I think is just too cute to cut up or am I wrong about that? I'm still so new to quilting, thought maybe you all could guide me a bit. Ducks r soooo cute!! Can't really see first

Why not make the ducks into little fussy cut squares with borders around them, and use your other fabric for a backing on a baby quilt?
|
I'd cut the ducks into 8" squares, then make some 9 patch blocks with 3" squares in pastel aqua, yellow, pink and little duck squares. Put those together in an alternating pattern and use the soft fabric for the backing.

I thought about the "fussy cut" but they are so close together, wouldn't that ruin the print?

Sorry , I cant see the first one well enough. but the second one is just soooooo cute. Would be cute in any quilt pattern

I posted two new pics of the fleece fabric.

I think the ducks would be darling made into a table runner or pieced table cloth and used for a bright spring decor element. I would back a baby quilt in the bear fabric, which looks very soft. I use most fabrics that I don't really know what to do with as backings. A quilter can never have too many backing fabrics since you need such large chunks of fabric for them.

I think I would choose colors to make a top for the cute duck fabric and then to get the full benefit of the cute ducks use it as a backing. That way you don't have to cut into it. Or use some on front but leave enough of it for a backing!
The fleecy one would definitely be a cute backing or as a whole cloth quilt on front and use flannel for a backing. Both are darling pieces for babies! Will be anxious to see what you come up with for them. |
