Your daughter will like it...and use it...knowing that her mom took the time to shop for material and a pattern, to plan it, and to sit and make it. They are beautiful!! Daughters use things moms make. You are way too hard on yourself. You did excellent work.

Latrinka 04-29-2012 05:20 AM

I think it's pretty, and she might like it!

Wanabee Quiltin 04-29-2012 05:48 AM

I love this purse/tote. You did such a good job.

meanmom 04-29-2012 06:14 AM

I like it. It is different than the usual bags. Could you applique something on it to give it some more color?

star619 04-29-2012 06:29 AM

I am very impressed by your purse. IMHO, it is very understated (my taste) but could be accented by a pin, beads, or other adornments. Personally, I would keep it subtle, and stay with the color line. Could you share the pattern source? Thanks.

Several people have suggested that I add a little somthing for color and I am going to give it some serious thought. Maybe scour the consignment shops for some type of pin that will stay with the 'fan' shape? I did not use a pattern, the pockets on the front and back are just one half of a dresden plate, quilted and bound. I just winged it from there!

Your post is pretty funny....but, I have a daughter that is super fuzzy about what she likes and what she will use.....if she is honest, couldn't you just ask her? If not, donate it somewhere. Bet a teen in the Foster program would be thrilled with this. It really is a lovely bag......it needs a loving home....:)

QUILTNMO 04-29-2012 06:52 AM

we are our own worst citics im sure shell love it if not then donate it

ladypetite 04-29-2012 06:55 AM

It is truly a lovely, unique purse that could be classified as "Designer". I absolutely LOVE it and I seldom buy purses because I am so fussy about them. 4 years ago I bought a red purse, paid a little more than I normally would, and I am still carrying it daily. It has become my 'signature handbag'. It is starting to look 'almost new' so I am very fortunate that it has lasted this long. I fear I will be facing a delimma soon when it becomes too tacky to carry.

Anyway............long story short (I must be lonely for conversation) the bag is gorgeous and someone else will LOVE it, maybe even your DD.

callen 04-29-2012 12:39 PM

That bag is very unique. Lovely colour. Hmmmmm if you really don't like it.....................well maybe I could take it off your hands LOL!!!!!!! Don't be so hard on yourself.

Peggy Jeanne 04-29-2012 12:40 PM

You did an amazing job, bet she will like it!

Sew Freak 04-29-2012 01:32 PM

it's awful....(lol) but I'm willing to take it off your hands and I promise to put it to good use!

fred singer 04-29-2012 01:37 PM

you did a great job on it ,I think that she will like it.

nstitches4u 04-29-2012 01:47 PM

You are too critical of your work. I think she will love it.

stichinluvr 04-29-2012 02:16 PM

I think you should let her decide if she likes it. tell her if she doesn't she can help you pick out something she would like. You might be surprised.

mrsjdt 04-29-2012 02:32 PM

Allow me to send you my address...it's beautiful!

solstice3 04-29-2012 03:09 PM

I like it. If you have no idea what to do with it.... donate it to a charity auctio for a worthy cause.

grammyto2 04-29-2012 03:34 PM

I would give it to goodwill.

Gabrielle's Mimi 04-29-2012 05:47 PM

Why don't you give it to her with a coupon to exchange it for something else you'll make in the future? She may just love this bag. Sometimes we get sick of looking at something we've worked on for a while.

debbieoh 04-29-2012 06:02 PM

You can always send it to me LOL!!! I love it

I will be very honest: I love tote bags, and it is not me,
BUT...
you put so much work into this bag! It would make a great weekend bag. I would maybe make something smaller, or even buy a little something and put inside of it for a surprise and let dd decide what she will do with it.
She might plan a trip if you give her tickets to something or gas money
I looked inside and saw all the love :)

RDM 04-29-2012 06:11 PM

You did a great job on this purse and it has so many wonderful places to put things. You could make or purchase something your DD wants but also include the purse. When you travel or shop great bags can be very helpful.

I think you really should consider this.
Have you seen some of the bags in California on the arms of the "elite"? ;)

I recognized the half dresden plate & I think you're talented to have "winged" the rest of it, great job! It's perfect for dressing up or down & your daughter may absolutely love it.:)

ItsJustMe 04-29-2012 07:59 PM

I like it! You do great work, and it is unique. I'd buy it.

ShirlR 04-29-2012 08:04 PM

I think it is a really neat bag! If you think she would not like it, why not try selling it? I really like the colors you have used and the size. And your sense of humor is great! LOL!

Rose_P 04-29-2012 09:18 PM

Not knowing your DD, it's hard to be certain, but even if it's not her style, she'd have to admit it's beautifully made, and so upscale and current looking, while also having the advantage of being a color that would go with everything. It's really special looking, and functional, as well. If your daughter carries it once all her friends will freak out when they hear you made it. Don't be surprised if you start getting calls for orders!

earthwalker 04-29-2012 09:22 PM

I love it...stylish and simple. I am the kind of person who likes a bag to be subtle and fairly "dressy". Totes on the other hand can be a bit "wilder". I think some of the heavily patterned/coloured bags limit the times you can use them...but that's just me. Anyway, I think she will love it.

QM 04-29-2012 09:22 PM

IMHO, this well made and well thought out bag could use more color. If the construction allows, perhaps a vivid raw edge applique of her name? On the other hand, perhaps it is perfect for your sister as it is.

Jammin' Jane 05-03-2012 12:07 PM

The bag is unique and beautiful! Let her decide!! :)

sewNso 05-03-2012 12:20 PM

leave it setting around, and let her see it, before her birthday. no comment on who it's for, and you can get her reaction. give it, if she likes it.
i think it's beautiful.

sewingsuz 05-03-2012 12:33 PM

I would bet she would like it. If she rides a bike this would be a great bag. Or if you are shopping, alot can fit in there.
