I see bamboo and wild animals in the jungle.

Interesting that you mentioned Gee's Bend. I lived in Alabama for a few years. I read about Gee's Bend quilts. I am enthralled by the organic feel about their quilts too.

FOREST. looks cool

liont 05-24-2012 05:22 AM

Thank you everyone for your interpretations. It is amazing to see that the same image evokes so many different feelings and interpretations.
I don't know if I could call this an art quilt, but art/beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder. Thanks again for you encouraging words:)
I will try to post more. I hope there is no rule about posting older quilts which I made some time back.

I agree, books on a shelf. Maybe because I love books.

jad1044 05-24-2012 05:46 AM

it's lovely regardless of the image intended; I think it is a super quilt and a great way to use up fabric without enough to do a whole quilt -

estherblair 05-24-2012 05:58 AM

I see a beautiful forest

Annaquilts 05-24-2012 05:59 AM

Earth, vegetation, plants and especially trees.

Sew N Tune 05-24-2012 07:03 AM

Before I saw your revealing post, I saw a forest, from inside a building looking out thru the window. The horizontal lines were the window panes. I was close.

pacquilter 05-24-2012 07:19 AM

Bookshelf for me too...cool quilt!

JenelTX 05-24-2012 07:21 AM

First, I *adore* this! The colors are gorgeous. I see bamboo trees in a jungle.

JenelTX 05-24-2012 07:23 AM

I *love* the idea of doing a quilt of books! I work for an author, and her books come in candy-shop colors. I might just use my bookshelf as inspiration for my next design!

nena 05-24-2012 07:49 AM

Looks like fabric stash on shelves.

That's the beauty of abstract art--it says all kinds of things to each person! I LOVE THE QUILT!

Haha... Then I'll have to cut the quilt up!! :D

I see a bargello quilt in your avatar? It's too small to see clearly. I love bargello quilts. They are amazing:)

Ditto for me! When I first looked at it I said "I see Jungle." Beautiful

Darn, I was happily standing on a city sidewalk happily looking through an old fence at another world on the other side! Bamboo would have the tops getting smaller quicker (not that anyone asked for my opinion... maybe sour apples because you ruined my fantasy!!!!) hmmmm, maybe quirking it this way or that is what abstract art is all about. It can be what you need it to be. Some is good and can be quirked many ways, and some is without the lines/colors/movement that would allow you to see so much. Myself, I went into a big museum and saw a huge yellowish canvas with a postage stamp size square in a lower corner. Left me cold. Your quilt excited me. I won't say anything more about the fact that YOU didn't understand it was looking through an old fence into "another" world!

"Can't see the forest for the trees"

momski 05-24-2012 09:42 PM

It looks like someones fabric stash to me... which is not a bad thing.

My first thought is: FABRIC STASH!!! And I could sleep under it with a BIG, BIG smile!

SueDor 05-25-2012 03:06 AM

Scrappy quilt!

Yooper32 05-25-2012 03:22 AM

Waving strips.

verushcke 05-25-2012 03:39 AM

I see a fabric stash, very colourful, very different.

shelburn 05-25-2012 04:01 AM

My first thought was "empty scrap basket in a neat sewing room!" That is the practical side of me. The whimsical side said, "grasses though a rail fence".

bibi 05-25-2012 04:34 AM

It is a very lovely quilt. I am quite sure that your desired effect is there, particularly when you see the entire quilt spread out on a bed or hanging on a wall. With my weird sense of imagination I can see curtains being pulled to shut out the day or opened up to welcome the daylight.

scrapbeagle 05-25-2012 04:50 AM

Without looking at anyone else's response, I see a bookshelf with lot's of books! This is a beautiful quilt.

KarenR 05-25-2012 04:54 AM

Bamboo - a field of it.

nana20010 05-25-2012 05:01 AM

brendadawg 05-25-2012 05:54 AM

Shelves full of books!

MrsM 05-25-2012 06:02 AM

Leaves of grass? Don't fence me in? It is a very lively quilt. I love the colors and the feelings it evolkes.

sewbizgirl 05-25-2012 06:03 AM

Tall grass through a rail fence.. if I have to "see" anything... I just love the colors and movement. It's a great quilt.

pls1946 05-25-2012 06:09 AM

The quilt is fantasic.....I love the color and movement. I can't really see anything myself.....but like all the answers.

Laura22 05-25-2012 07:03 AM

Stalks of grass

wendiq 05-25-2012 07:39 AM

A yard with plants and grasses.....for such a scrappy quilt, it is peaceful....not chaotic to me.....In fact, the more I look at it, the more I like it....:) What did you want to accomplish? I hope that in your mind, you did just that!

Nell Dwyer 05-25-2012 07:58 AM
