I am not sure about the red. I think you should use a softer color as it is supposed to be a shadow. This is coming from someone who is not good with color.

Well I think all ideals are great, alway's great to see what other's think or would use.

I"m doing one with gray but love the red! why not???
|
Looks good to me!
|
very nice i like the red!

I think the red is too much, and does not give the "shadow illusion." It is just too bold. Since you like red so much, why not incorporate it it the main rectangle and go back to having a darker grey strip for the shadow. I promise you, your quilt will pop. The red strips are too distracting, and there is no illusion.

Red? I love it! It opens more possibilities for using different fabrics and scraps in the stash. Fat quarters would work, too. Can't wait to see what other colors can be used for the shadows.

Yes it will look lovely when finished.

I guess I need to shop for gray fabric...I like the illusion idea from MSQC/ Jenny!

The colors are lovely but when I look I see very large L-s. I think the red color takes away from the illusion affect that the grey has. So it depends on what you are after.
I made a mystery quilt one time and it was supposed to have the illusion affect but I did not know that and was not told when making the quilt. Because of that I have a nice quilt but it misses the illusion and 3 D feel. |
