Saturday I watched a gal do a neat block with scraps. She took a square. added strips around it to frame it, then layed a bigger template down and cut at an angel. She said you can get different looks by just turning the template.
I tried 4 blocks. Do they look ok? be honest please. :D Should I keep going? :?:

Absolutely, keep going. That will look great.

Jim's Gem 07-19-2009 03:38 PM

I like them!!! Looks like fun. A good way to use up scraps?

NorthernDeb 07-19-2009 03:39 PM

I think they look fun. I might set them with a solid sashing if they were mine... just to let each shine. But it you want a crazy quilt look then setting them next to each other will do that. I LOVE scrappy looking quilts. They're interesting!

katier825 07-19-2009 03:40 PM

I've seen several patterns like that in my online shopping and in magazines. I liked it best with sashing between. Great way to use up scraps!

kwhite 07-19-2009 03:40 PM

Wonderful. I love the fact that you don't need to be worried about measurements. Keep going

judy_68 07-19-2009 03:40 PM

I think they look great. I make alot of scrap quilts. I am horrible at color coordinating fabric. With scrap quilts you don't have to worry about it. lol

THANKS dearheart. The fun thing is ya never know how each one is gonna look. and they are not all the same. I wanted to just try a few to see if I could do it. Once I get a bunch made and decide on the layout, I'll think of sashing , Right now I'm just having fun that I can sew even if its just small scraps. lol i sure missed creating/sewing....

Thanks, I'm wondering if I should stick with the same color scheme or go more scrappier and do 5 different colors?

Looks really good Bev, want to see more as you get them done!!!

2wheelwoman 07-20-2009 10:38 AM

Most definitely you should keep going. They're going to make a great scrap quilt. And, you've given me a great idea for using some fabric I have. I didn't want to just put strips around the pre-printed little squares, but putting wonky strips like these around them would be just the perfect look. Thanks for sharing your blocks!

zennia 07-20-2009 10:59 AM

Bev we must sort of think alike. Look at what i downloaded just a little while ago. I want to try the same style quilt as you are making. By the way, yes you should keep going. Going to be very pretty and a good use of using of scraps so we can buy more fabric.

The strips around it come about the way you cut it. I'm not too good at writing, but will try to do a tut on it. Oh yeah.. Thanks!
