What have I got myself into LOL

I found this pattern online and fell in love with it. It's intermediate / advanced paper piecing so I bought it, and have two "parts" (of 10) done so far (not yet sewn together, so the seams don't line up yet!)

All 10 parts are done in pinks / purples ...

Here's the pattern (for the life of me, I cannot rotate these, sorry)

Here's what I've done so far

You sure have more courage than I have. Have you tried basting them. Are the printout inaccurate?? Can you ask for help where you bought it online?? I hope that you can resolve this problem.

GEMRM 05-26-2016 03:38 PM

I think it' s going to look spectacular when you get it done. Why are you second guessing yourself?

QuiltnNan 05-26-2016 03:42 PM

looks good so far

lynnie 05-26-2016 03:55 PM

that's an awesome pattern for sure. coming along beautifully too. can't wait to see this one done.

sewbizgirl 05-26-2016 04:26 PM

YIKES. Just looking at that give me the 'willies'... big time! You're a brave woman.

QUILTNMO 05-26-2016 05:03 PM

They aren't sewn together yet. That will be tomorrow night. The big test!! There are some really small pieces!! I'm just hoping I haven't bitten off more than I can chew!!

Tartan 05-26-2016 05:24 PM

I have seen one sewn together on the wall of someone's sewing room maybe on QB? It is going to be awesome and you can do it!

Nanakerr 05-26-2016 05:28 PM

I'm sure it will be awesome when your done. Love the colours.

Merrylin 05-26-2016 05:33 PM

Wow! I can certainly see the appeal of the pattern, but there is no intermediate involved. That is advanced paper piecing. Can't wait to see it finished.

BrendaK 05-26-2016 05:59 PM

Good Luck. We have faith in you and it's going to be beautiful. BrendaK

Barb in Louisiana 05-26-2016 06:10 PM

OOOH!!!! I like it. I may just have to get that pattern. It's going to be really a work of art when you finish.

QM 05-26-2016 06:28 PM

In looking at the picture and what you have, it appears to me that one 'arm' of each star is inserted into the row of the next, allowing for the curve in the rows. My impression is that without hue change, you may not have the inward spiral effect, also. I suspect this may be one of those patterns where the instructions are less helpful than the picture. Good Luck!!

Quilter 65 05-26-2016 06:39 PM

Go, brave one. Please share when you are finished. It will be beautiful.

twinkie 05-27-2016 02:06 AM

WOW you are ambitious. Looks good to me and in my favorite color.

Annaquilts 05-27-2016 02:13 AM

I think it looks great.

Ariannaquilts 05-27-2016 02:31 AM

You will do great, your off to a good start and besides how can anything go wrong when it's purple. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Gail B 05-27-2016 03:49 AM

That will be spectacular when it's finished. Love your colour choices.

As a chicken-hearted sewer, having never done ANY paper piecing......"willies" are mild compared to what I am experiencing looking at this.

I would ooh and ahhh at a quilt show seeing this, but would not feel brave enough to attempt!

Way to go!

toverly 05-27-2016 04:57 AM

Love that pattern! You are doing a great job, Carry on!

ljptexas 05-27-2016 05:17 AM

Whoa! Wow! It is gorgeous!!!! I've been PPing for several years but.....

quilterpurpledog 05-27-2016 05:26 AM

I'm sure you can do it. You only bite off more than you can chew when you forget to eat daintily and take one bite at a time. So, don't doubt yourself and take it one bite (or step) at a time. Enjoy the journey and the beautiful quilt it is becoming. We will be anxious to see the progress or finished product.

dunster 05-27-2016 07:36 AM

I think it's a clever pattern and you will do fine with it. I'm interested in seeing what other colors you bring into the quilt.

Pennyhal 05-27-2016 09:18 AM

Oh gosh! That's fantastic pattern! I look forward to seeing it completed.

I take the pics with my phone - upright - and email them to myself and then download them. They are fine until I post them LOL

Thanks for the tip ... I am obviously doing something wrong LOL

Thanks for all the comments! It is a bit daunting LOL ... the paper piecing is actually easy, I'm just going to be nervous about sewing it all together.

QUESTION FOR THE PP EXPERTS - in order to keep everything perfectly lined up, I had thought about keeping the paper on and then only taking it off after I have sewn them together. This will be a wall hanging quilt that I will NOT be donating ... so was wondering ... what happens to the little pieces of paper that I can't get off? If I wash it (which I usually do when it's all done) will the paper disintegrate or will it make lumps? I'm talking about small, tiny pieces of paper.

These are the other colours that I will be using.

I bought a fat quarter bundle from missouriquilts and I just love the colours. Two fat quarters makes two wedges, so it works out perfectly!

JuneBillie 05-27-2016 01:17 PM

Yes, you are doing great with this beautiful project. Just keep on going, and as another one said most of all "enjoy the journey."

Material Witness 05-27-2016 02:03 PM

Oh, just skip the small pieces and put a button in the middle!

(Just kidding. As long as you take your time, you'll be fine!)

AngelaS 05-27-2016 02:47 PM

That's cool!! I can't wait to see the finished product!

Grandma Peg 05-27-2016 08:14 PM

Going to be a great quilt. Love the color and fabric.

nls 05-28-2016 04:01 AM

Looks good, great pattern!

coopah 05-28-2016 04:16 AM

It's lovely and will be a real stunner (in a good way) when it's done. You're sure into more pain than I am! Congrats on being courageous! :-)

Karamarie 05-28-2016 04:38 AM

Looks like a challenge and you've got a good start. Can't wait to see it progress.

tessagin 05-28-2016 04:57 AM

Love the colors. It'll be great. I'm sure as you carry on, it'll all come together.

mjhaess 05-28-2016 07:14 AM

Looks like you are doing a great job...

garysgal 05-28-2016 09:36 AM

If the tiny pieces of paper are really tiny, there shouldn't be a problem if some get left on, you just don't want them to glob together and create a lump. I love pp but I don't think I am as brave as you are! It will look beautiful when you finish.

carolynjo 05-28-2016 10:04 AM

I think you are doing a fabulous job! Keep working on it and sharing with us, you brave woman!
