I don't see anything wrong with any of these fabrics. The cardinals are beautiful. Not sure I would try and use all of them in the same quilt, but nevertheless, they are all beautiful. I love the gray!!

Lisanne 02-18-2010 11:18 AM

I like the fourth one. I wouldn't combine it with the others, but I could see using it as the "white" fabric along with smaller prints of green ivy or trees, red flowers or berries, etc. Or as a shading in among a variety of whites and silvers.

I love # 3 and #4 and think they could look very well in the same quilt. I don't much like any of the others.

Anyone have any ideas, at all?

I like the gray one, too. Sort of looks like "gray-work". I think it could be very nice.

Hi, wish I had seen the fabrics before I finished my birdhouse top. I could have used a block of birds and one of houses. Could have made two tops instead of one with strips Peewee.

I like the silvery gray too. I'd toss in some bright red just as a very small accent. I wouldn't make a whole quilt with it, but maybe some nice sofa pillows (bound in black cording, perhaps) for winter time. But hey, everyone's taste is different.
8-)

I liked the grey version. Did NOT like the gold or the third one- colors much too dark. the first is beautiful. There you have it, we all have wide variety tastes and the companies do try to please us all

Honestly, I rather like this one too,,,,,more like a toile......and with the dark gray and white, could be used in black and white quilts.........not everyone has to have red and green at Christmas.......

MaryAnna 02-18-2010 06:05 PM

Yes, what were they thinking...it doesn't go with anything...
Kind Regards,
MaryAnna

I love the fourth (grey-scale) fabric but I love the more non-traditional Christmas fabrics with blues, greys, blacks, and silver.
'Course, I also love the real traditional red and green ones too.
Just call me hopeless.

This is called negative printing. GG

I like all 5 of them, the fifth can used for back groud fabric which can make a center peice stand out more, nope maybe Im weired to cause I like them all.

ctmhjenn 02-18-2010 09:02 PM

I like them all too..I really do like the gray, especially after one gal said a lavender blend with it, with maybe some more metallic somewhere..awesome. I have used this fabric in the past with the Cardinals and I am so glad that they have brought it back. Love it Joanie

I like them all. And the fourth is great. There are some black, gray white quilts that look really neat and this would a show case piece in a quilt like that

retrogirl02 02-18-2010 10:43 PM

I love cardinal fabrics...just can't seem to have enough of those. I think that they are all beautiful, not necessarily to be used together. The gray/silver would be great with reds as others have mentioned but could really stand out with the black and white combos many of us have in our stash...I might even be on the lookout for it. Thanks for posting.

Rina 02-19-2010 12:16 AM

I love all of them!

Riversong 02-19-2010 02:29 AM

I like all of them....maybe I'm weird...I can see the black and white as pillows in a more modern ,maybe a guys room, with black leather sofas or whatever...

Marguerite 02-19-2010 10:43 AM

I think it's for someone is leans to more artistic looks; like a black and white photo.

mrsmail 02-19-2010 06:37 PM

I love 'em all. I just love Hoffman fabrics.

I can't believe it, looking over my stash, I found the exact same piece of fabric as the first one with the beautiful Cardnals, and I think it is so awesome I cannot decide what fabric to put with it to make a quilt. It is so outstanding, I don't even want to cut into! We have a family of Cardnals outside ever morning, male and females, sitting in our birch tree looking in the window at us. Any ideas what colors to put with that or a design. I am stumped. Nancy from N.J.

I actually love all of them. I would like to incoporate the first four in a OBW. I would probably purchase several yards of each. I love the mix of cardinals, rose hips and juniper berries, for me it is the perfect Yule pattern, providing the promise of Spring on the First Day of Winter.

Thanks for posting, I will look forward to all of them.

bisque 02-21-2010 09:05 AM

Thats a wonderful thought, now to remember where I found my fabric I already have!

Nancy, just hang in there until May... Hoffman has a b'zillion coordinates that will go with it. Ok, I exaggerated... but still they will have dozens. Any of their cream/gold or scarlet/gold metallic blenders will be gorgeous. Their hunter/gold ones will also go but will be deeper in color than most of the greens in the leaves. Looking at this year's sample swatch of the cardinal fabric, I don't think they changed any of the colors in the design at all from last year (for the first 3 pictures), so if you're inclined to look NOW for coordinates, choose any of Hoffman's fabrics that are in the 33G (cream/gold) or 78G (scarlet gold) colorways. You could even get away with 47G (gold/gold, like the deeper beige shades in the birds).

champagnebubbles 02-21-2010 10:25 AM

I may be on the short list-- LOL I like them all.

charvan 02-21-2010 10:33 AM

Too bad they didn't put chicadees on the gray print. Love the traditional Hoffman cardinal prints; the beige might wash out in a quilt. All depends.

bisque 02-21-2010 11:32 AM

Thank you sooooo much! Love those Cardnals and the colors wow!

marla 02-22-2010 12:46 PM

I love the dark one as it is rich in color and the use of mediums and light creams would work well.
